Me and my little brother are looking to get matching tattoos this summer... I'm trying to come up with ideas that are unique, meaningful and creative as well... Could be something fun too.

We could get the same thing, we could get something written like a quote or web two pieces that are separate but form one thing when held together.

We have been through a lot together good and bad and he means a lot to me. One of the most valuable friendships... I am his big brother, his mentor an at times I feel like I play a parental role.

Ideas?? Could be any idea whether a quote an image or even a concept... Please I want some cool ideas... Only serious responses please, sometimes people respond with stupid joke stuff

    Thanks

A guy I knew a while back had the same idea with his brother, they had an artist create like a logo something like a superman shield but with their last name.

That's a cool idea.. I dont know if I'd get the last name thing but something interesting like that would be cool.... I'm just trying to get cool concepts, whether that involves the design, quotes, layout ... But i want it to be meaningful and apply to our close friendship.... I'm the bigger brother and I'm always trying to look our for him and be a good role model so if that can somehow be depicted

It is very difficult to know what would be meaningful to someone else without knowing them very well. What I can suggest is *you* think about what is meaningful for you and your brother. For example, there must be some experience you've had together that means a lot to you both. I don't need to know what that is, just think about what "symbolizes" that place or that experience for the two of you. Something that when you wear it, it isn't just "decoration" it is a "marking" that goes deeper than the skin. It represents the way you feel about one another bonded in that experience symbolized by whatever it is.

If you can come up with a symbol that fits like that, the next thing I'd do is go talk with a good tattoo artist and have them see if they can come up with some sketches.

That's one way to do it. Another is to design it yourself. I've seen some obviously amateur designs on guys that looked 'good' because you knew just looking at it that it had a very special 'marking' meaning to the guy, even if I had no idea what it was. (ETA: I once had a locker neighbor at the gym I was friendly with. Incredibly sexy, very mixed blood guy. He had several tats like that and I was always curious so one day I asked him what they were. Each one represented something from his diverse ancestry and actual places in the world he's been related to them. He had 'mapped' himself with his diverse ethnic identity. Very interesting.)

It might also be cool if it were something that say, when you stood shoulder to shoulder shirts off, the 'design' or 'symbol' would connect together.

I duno. I don't even have a tattoo, although I have contemplated it from time to time.

Thank you mike for your response ... I def want it to be personal so I was thinking about creating it myself...

I want more people to respond to this post and interpret what a brotherhood bond means to them or a term, image or quote that almost can define the meaning of brotherhood... Especially with mine and his relationship which is to me.. Very close, strong bond and we talk about eveerything ...we have fun and do a Lot of fun activities ahen we hang out..I'm always looming out for him and trying to push him to do his best... I also sometimes feel protective and even parental like I have to be here in life to not only have fun and give advice but to protect and him and be someone he can always turn to and lean on . So maybe everyone can build off that? Come on guys I know you all have creative ideas,.. Thank you
