And these are the people that many Democrats would like the US to defer to.

"Disconnection of water services because of failure to pay due to lack of means constitutes a violation of the human right to water and other international human rights," a U.N. statement said, noting Detroit has high poverty, unemployment and water rates.

"When there is genuine inability to pay, human rights simply forbids disconnections," said
Catarina de Albuquerque, U.N. Special Rapporteur on the human right to water and sanitation.

Leilani Farha, U.N. Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing, said homes without water access are regarded as inadequate, adding, "If these water disconnections disproportionately affect African-Americans they may be discriminatory, in violation of treaties the United States has ratified."

How are they human rights violations when it is mostly vacant, unpopulated areas of Detroit that are getting utilities cut off. Does the UN have any first hand knowledge of the serious urban crisis that has gripped Detroit for the past 40 to 50 years which has resulted in its fiscal insolvency. If there are squatters living in those abandoned properties illegally than they really have no right being there in the first place and the city shouldn't be compelled to provide utility services to illegal squatters. On the other hand if landlords and their tenants are not paying their utility bills than they deserve to get their utilities shut off. This is not for free. The people working for Detroit's water utility don't work for free.

polls don't just turn on their own - they turn after the person being polled proves him or herself to be an asshole

now we have the stupid fool sending 800 military personnel into Iraq again

look Obama can't negotiate, he can't lead, he's a lousy statesman, he's a terrible diplomat - he's just a whiny elitist hell bent on undermining as much of the Constitution as he possibly can
