Hard to believe this is 25 years ago. Back when Madonna opened the MTV awards show people couldn't wait to see what she'd do. Listen to the crowd. These two were just awesome performances.

Madonna puts on one hell of a good show. And shes been gongg strong since 85. Like her, hate her she is an entertainer! What more do you want?obviously if she can hold relevance for 30+ years in her chosen field she is doing something right. Alot of "great" performers from the 80's play at Vegas to small venues rehashing only their old hits.
And yes I like Lady Gaga too.

The subject line made me think of that Vogue performance. Ah for the good old days of MTV. Oh well.
Sure, Madonna is no great vocalist, but how many pop stars are? Most of it is being at the right place at the right time or knowing somebody or just plain luck. Still, she is one of the best entertainers and saavy about public taste ever and definitely a legend.

Since the first time she squirmed her way on to MTV with her Debbie Harry imitation act, she was just the epitome of the desperate-to-be-famous, no-talent hack.

Probably one of the main reasons that there is nothing worth looking at on MTV today.

just because we're gay doesn't mean we have to support every single musician's music that tosses support to us. to be honest, why should we give credit to somebody for doing what any decent human being with a heart and conscience would do though? i would expect anybody to do the right thing and would frown upon those that don't. yeah, i understand that around that time it would probably have been career suicide to throw support to gay people. that's courage especially being on top of the world as a celebrity. however, it doesn't change the fact that if somebody sucks musically, they suck musically.

i like some of madonna's songs BUT she sucks though. she basically created the whole use every single publicity stunt in the book to sell the music instead of letting the music sell itself. wasn't she humping the stage and dancing around with burning crosses and putting out picture books of her sucking dick or getting fucked in the ass just to stay relevant?? that doesn't sound like a musician to me.

Oh lord! One i liked both before i came out. And two, get over her Justify My Love Tour in tbe late 80's. Both that and the book came out around tjat time. She has done good work since then. If she hadnt she would not draw the crowds she does.Like i stated she puts on a hell.of a show. I didnt say u had to like her.
Thanks for responding to.my msg icon_smile.gif

LOL. Where did RespectablyBuffed say gays should like Madonna? He simply said she a great performer. I agree. From the concert videos I've seen, she puts on a great show. Musically, she's just "ok" in my opinion. Lyrics are standard pop, music is average club music. Her looks/style just adds to the formula of her success. The same could be said about any singer or band.

Oh, yea, Janet Jackson - Love Will Never Do without You

(It has beautiful male physiques, beautiful smiles, some black and white photography, some sunshiney photography, excellent movement/choreography ...)

Alright, last reply for the night.

    phil Collins or Peter Gabriel.

Personally, Peter's voice calls me a little bit more than Phil's. (Sting in If I Ever Lose My Faith is pretty cool.)

    But When MTV Performance...

    No, not Shock the Monkey,

SLEDGEHAMMER (The animation was so cool at that time. It's amusing, now.)
