Has anyone seen the new Time Warner Cable commercials with this guy? I'm not sure if they are national or just LA area, but the whole commercial is just one very gay dude talking about his expertise in cable/technology/etc. I'm not really sure what my reaction is... it just took me by surprise that they'd put someone so gay as the face of their company. It's a good thing I suppose, and he's pretty cute too... now i only wish TWC didn't suck so bad.

Hunter9...what was/is the point of this topic? Yeah, the guy might be gay, so what? Would you still write the same post if it was Sylvester Stallone?

    He's obviously gay ....
verifiably so if you look at his other posts
but TMC doesn't come out and say that
He's just another voice out there promoting them
and for that I give TMC credit

Time Warner has been at the vanguard with support of lgbt issues. So, yeah, they know. They've been a great employer for gay people to work for.

I think it's pretty interesting that this guy was chosen. There have been other TW personnel used in commercials the past year or two, so it's part of a larger approach.

But I haven't seen it here in NYC as yet.

Kyle and his partner in Hawaii- if you want to watch a 10 min video.
He's 22, in love, UCLA graduate, ambitious, seems happy and not str8 acting, comfortable with himself. Good for him.

My first reaction was to poke fun at Kyle. But that's too easy.

We as Gay men complain that we're underrepresented in mainstream media. Then one of us is put on the screen and we POUNCE on him.

Sure, we've come far, starting with Gays on MTV's Real World, Ellen's coming out and ironically, ending modern day with the mainstream popularity of The Ellen Show. But the last frontier is commercial media -- you know you've arrived when advertisers recognize the impact you have on their sales. lol

So rather than make fun, I am going to compliment Time Warner Cable for showcasing an employee different from the garden variety, hired models of similar ads. Kudos to you and your mammoth company with over-priced commodity products generally intended to keep our asses indoors, in our chairs, inactive while "interacting with others". icon_lol.gif

I'd also like to say to Kyle, well done. You have a job you like, a boyfriend, a life worth sharing with others and you seem happy.

I don't know why this is such a big deal either.

Many people in liberal areas of the country view gays as being hip and in-touch with meaningless things like fashion and decorating and technology. I wouldn't be shocked if they specifically chose someone so flamboyant.

There's a reason fags are so well represented on HGTV. As far as the straight population is concerned, we gays know all about partying and buying nice things. It's meaningful things like marriage and raising children we have trouble with. icon_rolleyes.gif

    This is definitely good news.

There are quite a few people on this site who seek equality with straight people. This is a step. When it gets to the point that there is no reaction from having a gay person in public, then we'll know we've reached equality.

Looks like we're about half-way there.

OK, kudos for the commercial, but Time Warner has disappointed me so much I switched to DirecTV for my television. Way better.

On topic, I'm glad their spokesperson isn't some ready-for-AFA whitebread actor. I think I might've had him once for customer service. He was nice, it's the product that sucked.

I agree that in some fronts, Time Warner has been a friend to the LGBT community. This commercial is solid evidence from my perspective.

There's no question that Kyle is gay, comfortable with himself, and happy with his work at TWC. I love it!

I would love to see more representation from our community in commercials, be it couples, youth, LGBT seniors, etc, so that we get to the point someday where it's less and less of an anomaly.
