drive in movies

    What's the appeal of drive in movies these days?

    Driving home yesterday at dusk I went by a drive in and there were a lot of cars there. It looked like a lot of them were pick-up trucks, facing backwards, so they were having a sort of tailgate party.

    Back when I was a kid going to a drive in movie was an adventure. Maybe it still is for the kids.

    There's a drive-in in the town I live in (mostly a college town).
    People do it just because it's another thing to do.
    Plus, you can bring your own food, it's more comfortable than a theater and you can talk to each other without having to ruin in for others in the theater.

    It's actually pretty popular out here.
