bighairymuscles saidOver 300 people have died in Gaza in hospitals, schools, mosques and churches in Gaza in the past few days. I am praying for the people of Gaza!
How do you all feel about the situation in Palestine/ Israel?
Having served in that area, been on several trips to the area in the last few years and having just returned a few weeks ago from a European and Russian trip I have a few observations and questions for the OP.
My first question is, are you serious?
War is hell and we should be praying for anyone facing it on both sides of a conflict and especially for the suffering of the civilian populations caught up in war.
Having said that, I've been in several small Israeli towns when the Palestinian/Hamas rockets fell to the ground. One thing I've always taken notice of is the striking contrast in the way the two sides handle their civilian populations.
In Israel half of the civilian population is hiding in bomb shelters.
In Gaza the Hamas terrorist leaders are hiding in bomb shelters while they hide their weapons in their shopping centers, schools, mosques, and Hospitals among their women and children and sick and elderly.
Civilized societies do everything in their power to protect their women and children and sick and elderly from the ravages of war, not use them as shields to protect their weapons and leaders from the ravages of war.
I wonder does the Op and those like him condemn and demand that Hamas and the Palestinian people (as well as other groups) stop the barbaric practice of putting their civilian population in harms way by using women and children as shields for their weapons and leaders in deliberate attempts to raise the body counts and therefor world sympathy for them (something that has worked remarkably well until this time)?http://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Op-Ed-Contributors/Media-death-count-encourages-Hamas-to-use-human-shields-362927
Op, I notice you mention Palestinians dying in their hospitals, schools, mosques and churches, are you unaware of the Palestinian use of such facilities to hide weapons or did you not feel it was important to mention that? I know it sounds terrible to mention people dying in those facilities, but when the fact that those very facilities are the same places that Hamas has hidden it weapons it changes the picture considerably.http://www.algemeiner.com/2014/07/18/u-n-finds-rockets-hidden-in-one-of-its-gaza-schools/
OP, I wonder why you didn't bother to post a video clip of IDF fighter pilots aborting missions to keep from killing civilians, especially children? Was it just oversight or does it not serve the purpose of dehumanizing the citizens of Israel ?
OP, I notice you didn't mention that Egypt (a Muslim country) tried to broker a cease fire between the two sides with Israel coming to the table only to be rejected by Hamas/Palestinians out of hand? Is that because it shows that Israel would like to find a solution to the problem?http://time.com/2984308/reports-hamas-armed-wing-rejects-egypts-ceasefire-plan/
OP, I noticed you made no mention of Israel (having the obvious advantage) Allowing a cease fire so humanitarian aid could be delivered to Gaza (a cease fire agreed to by Hamas, yet not kept by Hamas)? Is that because it actually serves to humanize the Israelis and show them as civilized?http://online.wsj.com/articles/palestinian-death-toll-rises-as-israel-threatens-broader-hamas-offensive-1405498640
Finally, OP, were you aware that on Wednesday 229 Arab Muslims were killed? Or that 314 Arab Muslims were killed on Thursday? That hasn't been widely reported in the media and you didn't make mention of it, I wonder is that because it doesn't serve the purpose of demonizing Israel to mention and ask for people to pray for Muslims killed by other Muslims in Syria?http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/229-arabs-killed-on-wednesday/2014/07/17/http://www.jewishpress.com/news/breaking-news/314-arabs-killed-on-thursday/2014/07/18/0/?print
I wonder why you make no mention of the Two State Solution which Israel has already agreed to clear back in 1948? Is that because the Palestinian goal is not Two States?http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/29/world/middleeast/Arab-Rejection-of-1947-Partition-Plan-Was-Error-Mahmoud-Abbas-Says.html?_r=0
OP, shouldn't we also be calling for prayer for the Israelis killed by Palestinians/Hamas as well? Or is this just about one side and what one side wants?
