Disc Brakes: Mechanical or Hydraulic?

    Cables stretch over time and require regular maintenance.
    Hydraulic fluid (or mineral oil, as in Shimano brakes) remains steady for years (unless you get the Avid Juicy's, which require regular bleeding).

    As for stopping power, they're pretty much identical.

    BTW, I found out today that sometimes, no matter how much stopping power you have, it's still not enough to miss the tree in a high speed tight turn. icon_lol.gif

    What cars have mechanical disc brakes? I didn't know that was an option.
