As predicted. So now I can finally order one.

    http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/f70/official-2015-ss-sedan-gaining-manual-gearbox-magnetic-ride-control-173273/

I bet 50% of their sales will be manuals, which is a bit unusual these days.

I gave the 2015 Chally Hellcat a thought or two because of the 707 HP out of its supercharged Hemi, but I still need a four door and one with the back seat room of my G8.

So the SS is it. This will probably be my last V8 in a new car so I'll keep this one a long long while.

The G8 has been a great car with only a fog lamp bulb and a key fob in over six years plus six years of fun.

And another issue though .... you can't do cold air and exhaust because it sounds just perfect the way it is. You can do a tune and pick up a few 10ths from just the tranny tune. additionally, Andy at Livernois is getting 30+ hp from the ECM tune so these cars are running 12.40s at 114-115, which is fairly close to the base C7's 12.2 at 118.

When I did the Roto Fab on the G8 I picked up maybe a 10th and lots of noise, and it's not all that pleasant a noise like a pair of AFBs or three Rochesters or even a Q-jet.

I dunno. These days I care less about doing performance upgrades. I prefer out of the box fun.

It's too bad Chevy doesn't offer a stripped down version. I'd seriously consider getting one for $30K - $35K with a manual.

What got me started with the minor mods is the group of guys and one chick who had the 25-30 G8s I drag raced with at Fontucky at California Motor Speedway. We were a pretty competitive bunch of guys (and one chick) so I ended up doing the same mods as everyone else to stay competitive.

I'd prefer to leave stock and I think I'd be much happier doing that with the SS as it sounds wonderful just the way it is.

Maybe I'll wait a few years and see how the resell market is for the SS manual. $40K+ is way above my spending limit for any type of car.

If it's like the G8, it might be a long while. I'm far too old and too close to the time I want to retire or cut way back to drop that much on a new car. Plus I enjoy the old iron so much more.

Thanks to the G8, after six years, still being worth a good percentage of what I paid for it new, allows me to justify it sorta.

Back when Pontiac called it quits, I saw quite a few people put their G8 for sale in a panic. Obviously those people weren't performance enthusiasts. I probably should have swooped in and bought one back then. icon_neutral.gif

And thinking of all the people who bought theirs with all the discounts and rebates at the time of the BK and paid $26k-$27k out the door and look at what they'll still worth.

Got to be real careful buying a used one because there's way too many videos on you tube just like this one.
