because I'm not that electronically savvy.

I hate hearing myself; i think my voice sounds too nasally.

Na your voice sounds nice icon_smile.gif its not nasally at all, but, I had hearing my own voice too.

However, wiring the cable back up is pretty easy, just pull back the sheath on the cable to excuse the wires and then strip the wires back a little to expose the metal cable and then just join colour to colour icon_smile.gif

eh, I'll just borrow someone else's.

plus, every time I hook up any iPod compatible cable I get a Usb Port power surge message and I haven't been able to fix that yet.

My sister's got one, and I've used it but I get the same result, so I think it's the drivers.

plus, during the hurricane we had the house wired to a generator and I had used the laptop. Then I read an article in the Houston Chronicle about how that's evidently the worst thing to do ever. woops.

whats likely happened then is the USB port has been damaged possibly by a small voltage overload or even physically damned by a USB cable or something.. to fix it, you'd need to replace the USB port

    meh.

It works fine with every other USB product I've got (external memory, wireless mouse, etc) and I just bought that new blackberry storm; which has got an 8gb memory card in it which does fine for loading playlists from the laptop for working out.

If I get a new iPod it ha got to be one of the ginormous ones, as I used my current one as more of a portable library; and have acquired more than 30 gigs worth of music, so it just kinda sits in the car because I don't have a CD player.

    Nice choice of music!

I love "Find my way home" by Blind Faith one of the classics!

I do things like that all the time because I am an ex musician (Sang lead and played guitar and keyboards) and work in Television (freelance) and have engineering experience.... we "Magyver" things all the time icon_smile.gif
My Macbook Pro has an optical connection to the surround sound system in my house.
