Researchers Think They Know Why College-Educated People Support The Tea Party

“When you’ve had little exposure to people who haven’t had the same opportunities as you, you’re more likely to adopt a view that ‘really anybody who wanted to could have succeeded if they only did what I did,’” said McVeigh. “I really think the key here is education is widely understood to be a primary determinant of where you end up in life. ... But as we know, not everybody has the same access to a high-quality education.”

Doesn't mean they can't also be kind and charitable instead of greedy and cold.

    Simpler Explanation:

A College Education Doesn't Prevent Stupid Choices.

My former dentist(a college graduate) joined The Church of Scientology when he was 45 years old.

We all know people who are well educated but outside of their area of expertise can be amazingly naive.

One well educated Tea Partier told me recently that his greatest concern was income inequality. He feared that America was becoming an oligarchy.

Therefore he supports the Koch Brothers and the Republican Tax Breaks for the Rich.

    WTF?
He should really join THE IRONY PARTY.

I wonder, just how big that check you wrote to help the unaccompanied minors streaming across our boarder was? Or, are you like Steven King, when confronted with reality you just continue to ignore fact and spout more of your unfounded bullshit?

While I and most of those I know want to see the boarder under control and those here illegally sent back to their own countries, we are at least "greedy and cold" enough to do the hard thing and put our money where our mouths are and actually pick up the pen and write the check to help. What have you done? Believe me, as the single parent of one son in college, a teenage son and two sons under 10 years old I can always find a place for the money other than helping someone else.

Maybe you could tell us what it is that makes you so "kind and charitable instead of greedy and cold"?

"The report also notes that educated, white, middle class Republicans are more likely to support the tea party regardless of educational segregation in their county, although educational segregation exacerbates this likelihood"

This is what created the tea turd party to begin with, low class, uneducated white people that the educated republican establishment didn't want, also known as Reagan Democrats (those social conservative, fiscally liberal people) who know how to switch sides in election years
