NYT: Love is not blind, as it turns out. But opposites attract when people think they are similar.

These are two findings about the users of OKCupid, one of the web’s most popular dating sites, that provide a window into how we chase romantic partners in the digital age.

At the same time, the results offer yet another example of how websites like OKCupid are sometimes used as social science laboratories — often without telling their subjects.

In June, Facebook disclosed that it had tested to see if emotions were contagious, deliberately manipulating the emotional content of the news feeds for 700,000 people. After the disclosure led to an uproar by users, privacy regulators in Europe began looking into whether the social network had broken any local laws.

Opposite can work out so beautifully... In one now lol. Bit we make it work so well and motivate each other... Except the early sleeping my partner does. He's always in bed by 10:30 on workdays. I tend to stay up later lol.

Love has never been blind. How can people believe that love is blind but also believe in love at first sight?

I also believe that opposites can attract, even in the gay world. Is it often? Probably not but there still are possibilities.

I could not date a guy who is 100% like myself. I like differences. Sure, maybe having a few things in common is cool but having a clone in thoughts? No thank you. That's what friends and acquaintances are for myself.

I don't know about the "love is blind" saying. I mean, how can it be blind if the two people are so drawn together and embrace each others differences?
