I do. And, I get to define my own special relationship.

My God does not condemn, throw fire, or send anybody to "Hell". My God is friendly and chill.

Nope. Wasn't brought up into a religion, have never been convinced by people who are religious. So, no religion here.

He's a tremendous dick if the Bible is any indication. So even if someone could prove to me that he exists, I still would not worship him.

Nah! Very harmful concept. Lazy thinking though I do realize if you're trained to believe it from a very young age, the brain actually hardwires to believe. Kind of like it hardwires to your specific language, your native tongue.

I believe in some first cause . . . something that initiated the big bang (or whatever came before that) . . . and I believe I have no idea what the heck that first cause is. Could well be sentient, intentional.

RunnerBen saidI believe in some first cause . . . something that initiated the big bang (or whatever came before that) . . . and I believe I have no idea what the heck that first cause is. Could well be sentient, intentional.

A first cause is a reasonable and necessary condition in philosophy once you get far enough into it. This goes not just for the origins of life itself, but also for morality. Try as we might, there's no escaping some form of absolute truth/morality. For those reasons I believe in some form of God. For me, the only one that makes any sense is Jesus, who is the only deity in any world religion to invite people into relationship and make that the only condition for eternal life. Every other deity and religion calls for some form of appeasement rather than relationship, and operates on a basis of fear.

As for some of the things that Old Testament God did pre-Jesus and some of what Jesus' followers say in the Bible...I'm still wrestling with a lot of that. I do not believe the entire Bible was divinely inspired, nor that it is inerrant. I do not believe that God/the first cause is presentient of how everything is going to play out on planet Earth, because otherwise people would be created that He would have to already know will never come to know Him (which biblically is His desire for all of mankind), and based on that lack of knowing Him they would be condemned to hell. Since it is said to be impossible for God to be anything but good, the only logical conclusion is that God/the first cause is neither fully omnipotent nor fully omniscient, because telling people He knew wouldn't ever come to know Him that they aren't in relationship with Him and therefore destined for hell is nothing short of psychotic.

Tl;dr - I believe in Jesus, but do not fall under the label of Christian. What mainstream Christianity believes is irreconcilable with sound logic.

I'll never believe in god, however I do admit to believing in a god earlier in my life. Too much turmoil, bad experiences, suffering, degeneration to live through, etc... No god would put its own creation through such things just to "teach a lesson". It is ridiculous to think such a thing and I think that believers are delusional/insane thinking there is a god watching over them while other people are getting murdered, abused, manipulated, degenerated, institutionalized, etc.. For some this life is a blessing and for others it is something to be endured until the end. However you might have it, "god" doesn't favor you over another because you've done good. People favor you for doing good not god, everything begins and ends with our brains and bodies not a supreme being. When you die that is it, you'll just become one with the nothingness of oblivion. Luckily, oblivion cannot be experienced unlike hell...

These are my beliefs if you want to call them that, more like the facts in my opinion.
