Wondering if anyone knows the area well. I know it's between Newark and NYC. What's the area like overall?

I have been told that Jersey City is very diverse and quite gay friendly. Much more so than nearby Newark. Obviously across the Hudson River lies one of the most gay friendly locales on the planet-New York City.

cool. I am trying to get a 'feel' for some of the cities and towns outside of New York. Places that seem nice, but don't get as much press.

pazzy saiddude.... i don't think you can handle new jersey. there's a lot of assholes out here especially in north jersey. everybody is miserable because the cost of living out here is fucked up. judging from how you come off on here where you seem to go off over little shit, you will be mad all the time.

as for jersey city, i don't live there but from what i've seen, you can say that there's the uppity ass people by the waterfront and going towards hoboken, the working class population and then there's the ghetto in the south side with the hood folks which has been real hot as of late. don't know about the gay community though or if they have one. don't think it's big like that. the gay population is over in nyc. over in jersey, the lgbt population is scattered and folks aren't open with it like that. jersey city is expensive.

don't even think about think about settling in newark either. over there is worse. the only good parts over there is ironbound and some parts of north newark but a majority of the city is fucked up. you should try central jersey, going south, further west or even pennsylvania or new york. avoid jersey. we have nothing.
You want to check out a state with miserable, fucked up people, go to Texas. Between the intense heat, stifling humidity, high cost of living, low wage scale, lousy infrastructure, and the unfriendly, bigoted native Texans with their fierce xenophobia, Texas is perhaps the most fucked up and backward ass state in the US. Compared to Texas, New Jersey and also Connecticut are both quite tolerable and that is the absolute truth, no bullshit here.
