An excellent summary of Barack Obama

Barack Obama, the first president shaped by the celebratory culture in which every child who plays soccer gets a trophy and the first whose campaign speeches were his qualification for the office, perhaps should not be blamed for thinking that saying things is tantamount to accomplishing things, and that good intentions are good deeds. So, his presidency is useful after all, because it illustrates the perils of government run by believers in magic words and numbers.

    Reality-based community

Reality-based community is an informal term in the United States. In the fall of 2004, the phrase "proud member of the reality-based community" was first used to suggest the commentator's opinions are based more on observation than on faith, assumption, or ideology. The term has been defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from judicious study of discernible reality." Some commentators have gone as far as to suggest that there is an overarching conflict in society between the reality-based community and the "faith-based community" as a whole. It can be seen as an example of political framing.

The source of the term is a quotation in an October 17, 2004, The New York Times Magazine article by writer Ron Suskind, quoting an unnamed aide to George W. Bush (later attributed to Karl Rove):

The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

White House Confirms Reagans Follow Astrology, Up to a Point

By STEVEN V. ROBERTS, Special to the New York Times
    Published: May 4, 1988

President Reagan and his wife, Nancy, are both deeply interested in astrology, the White House spokesman, Marlin Fitzwater, said today, and two former White House officials said Mrs. Reagan's concerns had influenced the scheduling of important events.

A California astrologer said she had been consulted by the Reagans regarding key White House decisions, but Mr. Reagan said astrology had not influenced policy.

Followers of astrology believe the alignment of stars and planets influences human affairs. Such people consult charts, based on their birth dates, for clues concerning many decisions.

Mr. Fitzwater said Mrs. Reagan is particularly worried about the impact astrological portents can have on her husband's safety. But he declined to say exactly how Mrs. Reagan had used astrological information. And the President, answering a question at a photo-taking session, said, ''No policy or decision in my mind has ever been influenced by astrology.''

The issue was stirred up by reports, first published in Newsweek, that Donald T. Regan, the former White House chief of staff, discusses the role of astrology in his memoirs. The memoirs are being published later this month by Harcourt, Brace Jovanovich, and excerpts are scheduled to appear in the May 16 issue of Time Magazine. Inauguration After Midnight

The book will detail the ''kinds of decisions that were made'' under the influence of astrological readings, according to a former Administration official. …

    This... totally.

Budget surplus to market crash in the 8 years of Dubya's reign. Market crash, entire vertical markets going bankrupt. He left as this entire nation was spiraling down the drain, but it's the Black Guy's fault for not fixing it...

Wouldn't have anything to do with the entire Legislature blocking, filibustering, and otherwise preventing nearly every damn thing from passing?

I don't know if a 3rd presidential term would fix anything, but I'm betting that Term Limits for Congressmen and Senators might.

    God I hate party politics.

Six years into Moabama's destruction, and Dummycrats are still blaming Bush.

What words describe the refusal to acknowledge that Carter and B J Clinton were largely responsible for making financial institutions give mortgages to people who could not pay them back? Incorrigible ignorance.

What can one say about those like "cool army dude" who presumably took an oath to support and defend the Constitution (as I did)?

Either these guys don't know that the Constitution has been under attack for six years, or they they don't care. Actually they ask for more.

Many Americans are acknowledging that the Maobama presidency is a disaster for America, as intended by the America-hating Marxist-jihadist in the White House.

Stupid gay liberals will be the last to realize that Maobama's destruction will eventually harm them also.

I have said before , i am not into politics , i am Australian working in the U.S for the last 24 years , i also have U.S citizenship thru marriage and have voted for President Obama . Back in 2008 , the country was in shambles , economy was crashing down , stock market was so low that economist was fearing something similar to the 1929 depression , GM , Ford and Chrysler were going bankrupt , real-estate was dying and the airline company i work for was going the same route ..
Now days , stock market is tinkering 17.000 , GM , Ford and Chrysler are making profit , estate market is almost booming again , and my 401K is secured again and people are feeling more secure with their finances .
Is he the best President ? , NO
Is he perfect ? NO ,
Did he make mistakes ? Yes
But all that said , he took a country in shambles and turn it around , and that is an accomplishment !!

The following, in my opinion, provides an excellent summary of Marbama (and his supporters):
