I have been using coconut oil lotion from trader joes for months on cracked heels. In noticed a fishy, vomit smell coming from my bedroom carpet and sheets. I believe it is the Butyric Acid in the oil that can begin to smell like vomit or fish in fabrics after a while. Maybe going rancid in the carpet. Had to wash the floors and carpets and the smell is almost gone. Anyone else experience this? I had to wash everything to get the smell out.

I found out it may have been a deteriorating old foam pad under the rug that was making the smelly fumes instead of the coconut oil. It was giving off bad fumes.

Instead of using a lotion what about soaking you foot/feet in some plastic bucket or container with water as hot as you can stand it. When your skin gets wrinkled pull it out and dry it off then rub oil on it. Wear socks to bed and flip flops around the house.

I wonder if this is the vomit smell emanating from my apartment elevator at times, unless the women in my building had holes in their garbage bags and a tampon accidentally fell out. You must either scrub the floor, which the building doesn't, or spray horrendous amounts of febreze to get this smell out, its embarrassing when visitors use the elevator icon_mad.gif
