I actually had someone who I’m friended with on Facebook suddenly ask me if I let my dog make his own dating decisions. I told him I did and that I have two poodles. His reaction, “well I don’t think it’s appropriate to let a dog with the intelligence level of a two year old pick who he wants to date.” First I thought he was kidding, then he explained that if you wouldn’t let your toddler choose their dates why would you let your dog? wtf…

The guy isn't a real friend of mine, somehow we became FB friends and I hadn't even thought about that sort of thing. "I just wanted you to know I couldn't consider you for dog sitting purposes”, he said.

    I responded, "I'm OK with it"....lol

So what do you think? Does it matter how smart our dog is when it comes to dating? Are standard poodles smart enough to make their own dating decisions? Does the breed even matter?

I don't know if a dog is smart enough ,but they have an instinct to let them kmow if a human being is going to treat them well or be an ass-hole !
If my dog doesn't approve , or is in fear of someone , i for sure won't befriend or date that person .

Uhhh, really? You'd let a dog make the call for you? A creature that licks its privates, predictably finds high pitched noises good and deep noises bad, has the brain of a 2 year old, and can be influenced by a ham bone?

I would probably remove him from my friend list. That conversation just sounds bizarre... When you're a toddler, you don't date unless you're talking about play dates. And in the case, the only thing that matters is that the dogs get along. BIZARRE.

I'm so glad I'm not on Facebook.
