Gay Car? Is there such a thing?

Last week my 07 Mustang got totaled out and have to buy a new vehicle. One I'm looking at was a black Jeep Wrangler. I've always loved the vehicles, and here in Kansas it can come in handy in the snow and camping trips.

Then a friend said that is a gay car. I said how. He reminded me of Brian's Jeep in QAF.

Is there such things as gay car? Like the Jeep Wrangler? What do you drive?

Gay car? I think that depends on how you drive it and how you look while you drive it icon_biggrin.gif

If I were to be completely scientific, I'd say that it would probably depend on the gay community where you lived. Don't you think that it would vary based on socio-economic level and other social pressures? Besides, the gay community has become so diverse and "heterogenous" you get gangsta thugs to college jocks to Ivy League preps, and all of them have different tastes (in cars as well as men). I'd tell my friend to go jump and then buy the car that you want and works for Kansas. Its not like you're going out in public wearing skin tight leathers and dark sunglasses.

There was one year at volleyball, I want to say around 2000 or 2001, where about 12 guys all had VW Jettas.

In L.A. waaaay back when, it was a Mazda Miata convertible.

For some reason, my friends call my Beetle "Nelly Bug". Perhaps I need to install a shotgun rack in the back window.

Since mine's a very, very butch dark blue, I ignore their snide remarks.

When I got a smartcar, I thought everyone would think it was 'trés gay' in the rural are where I live. The funny thing is, most of the accolades I receive from strangers, come from farmers and guy in working (functional vs. vanity) trucks (Ford F250-F350s, and similar Chevy trucks.) It's the soccer moms in the SUV's that scoff at it.

Yes, it's true...I drive the King of Gay cars...an 06 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.

Other gay cars in my opinion:

The Mini Cooper and the VW Jetta. Also, 3 series BMW's and the SMART car is beyond gay.icon_biggrin.gif

I must agree that the VW Bug and the 3-door Yaris are pretty gay... but I have also though that the Jeep Wrangler is pretty gay, though in a hot way. Nothing like seeing a hot guy behind the wheel of a Jeep Wragler with the doors and roof off. Kinda makes ya wanna jump in and say "Let's go!"

In South Florida the uber gay car for younger guys is a BMW Z4 2-seater. With lots of rich retired gays also here, however, you see Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, sporty M-B 2-seaters, and restored antiques of all kinds, mostly convertibles. But the cars themselves aren't so much gay as the combination of the guy who's driving them, and that they're so flagrantly showy.

I wanted a Triumph TR-4 when I got my license at 17, but my parents refused, saying a sporty convertible would kill me. Instead I was given a new 1966 Karmann Ghia, the gayest car of all time.

It was the car that Maxwell Smart drove in the opening credits of the US TV sitcom Get Smart in its first 2 seasons. Which meant it was not only gay, but nerdy.

my bf and i recently bought a car -- truck that it. it's a ford escape, sort of a gayed up explorer. also some people might think its a chick car, but that is SO way off base. i mean it IS NOT. icon_rolleyes.gif

yes my fave car is the nisan exterra (another gayed up small truck) but i like the wrangler. however, the back seems too small for the dog crate and anyway in northern climates a convertable is really not that useful.

good luck with your purchase, anyway. icon_biggrin.gif

I've always thought it was a toss-up between the Jeep Wrangler and the VW Jetta - for some reason I've always thought guys who drive Jettas are hot! As for me - I have an Audi A3 and love it - although I don't think it's a gay car, though my mechanic does call it a "rocket on wheels".

    I say go for Timberoo's car! icon_lol.gif

The Toyota Prius not only saves on gas but it saves you the trouble of having to tell people you are gay.

I don't see what's so gay about a Jeep Wrangler though. The Jeep Liberty... Uhhh yeah that's a lady's Jeep...
