If someone asks how you are, tell them "Terrific!" Makes them feel good and makes you feel good as well. Everybody is just a bit happier.

This is gonna be a long ass post tha nobody will read but whatevs:

The human species will not last forever, and it is selfish to think so, just because we are intelligent enough to think we could does not mean that we will. Everything we have and will create will get destroyed and forgotten, and anything you do to make an impact in this world will not matter in 1 million years.

    But really, Who cares?

Honestly, I don’t get why people feel a need to be remembered forever. We write books, make art, movies, music, so some other people will look at it and say “huh, that’s interesting”, and move on with their lives. We fight wars, nominate politicians, paint things, build things, just for people a few centuries later to read a paragraph about them in their history books. Ultimately, no one is important. Nothing really matters. Ghandi isn't important, Einstein isn't important, Hitler isn't important, Queen Elizabeth isn't mportant, etc. We are all just here fumbling around trying to figure out what we’re supposed to be doing, and by the time we figure it out we’re dead. And maybe, during that time, we have helped others figure it out themselves.

But isn’t that liberating as well? Why worry about life if it won’t matter in the end anyway, right? Just live how YOU want, do what makes you happy, take risks, because it won’t matter anyway! Just be who you want to be and not what others want to see. And when you die, all that matters is that you are satisfied with your life.

And even that doesn’t matter really…

I personally don't need to leave something behind to be remembered for. Except for the moments I shared with family and friends and I hope they will be good memories.

But not everyone is unimportant, starting with the cavemen inventing fire and the wheel, up to the researcher developing the meds I'm taking. So, if people think what they do will benefit humanity, more power to them, history will sort it out.

You've never walked in someone else's shoes, so don't judge them. I let people live their lives however they want, because I expect the same. No one is going to tell me what to do (well they may, but I sure as hell won't listen), so who the hell am I to tell another what to do!

I like that very much. It rings true. And that's a struggle of mine, this dealing with transitions, which strikes me odd because I'm so very practiced at both accessing and maneuvering through the bardos of dreaming which most people probably find extremely difficult if even possible for them; while a lot of what others find so much easier, I have to really work at.

In waking life I function real well on either side of transition, it's the period of change I find so difficult, which makes life always a challenge for me because living is all about change. Stagnation is not living.

For me particularly at this time of life, I've been finding myself stuck in the transition of having lost so many loved ones, the betrayals I experienced in particular. I'm okay with the deaths almost as much as I was very ok with the lives, that all makes sense to me; it was the dying part that sucked, of course. But the betrayals seem a constant change, no closure to that, which makes it tough for me to move on with living.

I'm going to think about what you said a lot today. Thank you for posting that.

We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing. Consequences give us the pain that motivates us to change.” ~~Henry Cloud

One of the most difficult ones for me...

    18. You need to forgive everyone who has wronged you. – Kindness is not to be mistaken for weakness, nor forgiveness for acceptance. It’s about knowing that resentment is not on the path to happiness. Remember, you don’t forgive people because you’re weak. You forgive them because you’re strong enough to know that people make mistakes.
