article: "the city did not discriminate against Robert Jordan because the same standards were applied to everyone who took the test
Tested for the same standards applying to everyone? Bullshit. They tested for an innate quality. What's the difference between that or testing for gender or race or orientation? But we tested everyone to see if they were black so that's not discriminating. We just picked the ones who didn't test positive for black because we thought they'd stay on the job longer. Bullshit. We don't think that male will stay on as a nurse so we're not going to hire him. We're just going to hire nurses who don't test out to be males. But it's okay because we're testing the females too to see if they test positive for being male. Bullshit. How is that not discriminatory?
A number of my friends are or have been cops, all smart guys. Here's one now arresting me, not quite, but we've known each other since I think about 4th or 5th grade. Not a dumb guy. Has a real cute kid, smart little kid.
And the last friend I made who was a cop, though we've lost track of each other over the years, was back in college. He was a shop steward for the police force and was in school to become a defense lawyer as his next career. I think he had put in like 15 or 20 years already. So they got more than their training's worth out of him, including all the admin work he did.
I used to go on night patrols with him in his car sometimes. Just had to sign a waiver and I got to play cop. Actually I just stayed in the car but I thought it real interesting. Not something that a higher IQ guy would get bored with anytime soon. As opposed to what, going in to an accounting cubical and crunching the same numbers every day for 30 years? Bullshit.
