So I was on the Yahoo news page today, and found this report. It is a video news story, and I usually don't have the patience for these but I took special interest in this one. Granted it's from FoxNews, but at least the reporter seems to be somewhat neutral on this. Is this for real? 58%? Furthermore, a fairly large percentage would drop out if DADT was repealed. What do you military folks notice about DADT attitudes? If FoxNews really serious? Most of the world has joined the 21st century when it comes to gays in the military. Why not us? Do they really think that we have no self control? Discuss.

Notice: Military Times woman being interviewed is criminally stupid, and long term exposure to her may result in wanting to yell at the computer screen... viewer discresion advised icon_smile.gif

Fox news is never serious, in the sense of being objective and unbiased, but always right-wing, always anti-gay. I would never trust a percentage they reported about a gay issue.

Agree. Those statistics are transparent and are obviously generated by a terrible sample.

could you link to it? News companies don't always do the polling themselves and it could just be a rehash by Yahoo of a story that fox ran.

In the UK 'loads' of people *said* they'd leave before the normalization of gay people in the people in the armed forces. But in fact, they didn't. And why really would they? The gay people have always been there!

I think its rather like all those people who threaten to leave the country if one president or another is elected.

Those are not the statistics I've seen. The ones I saw were more favorable.

Always anti-gay? Have you ever seen RedEye? If that show doesn't scream homosexual substance abuse then I don't know what does.

Yes I agree With Red....Fox News is Gay... They should do a story about that always trying to shut someone down..Their Percentag and findings is wrong...

What do you think they did went and ask military personal If they agreed with DADT. And if if they did do you think military personal would say "No I don't belive in DADT and I Think it should do away with it!" Not many would say that in fear of the policy its self...So no they didnt ask gaymilitary personal what they think about it... 4 Most part most guys n military are playing the Str8 card..

And 4 one they did not get to ask the Antire military.. So thier Percentage is nothing but a percentage that does not repercent the military in whole.

Don't Belive Most of what you here from "Fox News" They love to try to Control things and Shut people down. Like they did Yahoo Chat rooms, and like they are trying to do to Myspace. My City Houston, Texas is really bad about that. and if they had the chance would do a story on RJ.. and would try to get the site to shut down.

DADT will be lifted one day and Hopefully some time very soon. Mabey even this year. The military doesn't really care if there is LGBT fighting along side them.
    Lift The Ban!!
Help us repeal “Don't Ask, Don't Tell"

Back in 1941 a nation attacked us called Japan. Soon after that American's lined up to serve in the military to serve thier country.

One such minority group were African American. They fought well, but rarely along side the rest of the troops. It would take several more yeard before African American, Japanesse American and American Indians were allow to serve peacefully along side the rest.

The excuses that many have today about us gay men are teh same excuses heard back then regarding African Americans, Japanesse and other minorites.

The US military survived these minorities and will survive gay men and women as well.

If you actually watch FOX NEWS, you would not make this statement because it is blatantly untrue. FOX NEWS is not nearly as biased as it gets accused of, and certainly not "anti-gay".

Of course the current military is going to be biased. They dont want such a deterant to gay enrollmen to be repealed. Without DADT, more well qualified gays woud join up and then the straights would have to compete against them for promotions. This is just one way to give straights an advantage....and they preciously dont want to lose it.

I ended hooking up with a really hot little military hard body a few weeks back.

He supported it because he was using it to get out early...

This was not a survey or study done by FOX News. It was done by the Military Times and I read the whole story yesterday in the Army Times.

People have differing opinions on DADT in the military and the 58% statistic is a plausible number. When asked if DADT was repealed and if they would not reenlist or resign because of it, about 75% said they would not. 10% said they would and the remainder would consider it.

Even if 58% support DADT, a greater number that includes some who support DADT believe that homosexuals should at least be allowed to serve. The issue is whether homosexuals should serve openly or under DADT.

Maybe a lot of the folks surveyed thought that if they'd be opposing it, they'd inadvertently be "telling"?

The Military Times is very conservative and overall a cheerleader for prevailing Pentagon views. It will diverge on some issues, but mostly it toes the "company" line. It depends upon the cooperation of senior Pentagon leaders for many of its stories, and can't afford to bite the hand that feeds it.

It is very much a company newsletter, so I wouldn't put too much faith in those percentages. Plus, as noted here, the survey would have presented some conflicts for the military personnel being polled. I remain unconvinced these are reliable numbers.
