I upped my calories to 4000 . its been about a week and I am noticing alot of bloating and puffiness. Is this a normal part of the process of my body adjusting to that calorie amt ? Usually this is the pt where I say fuck it . Then in like two days the bloat goes away. I want to keep going hopefully the bloat is just that a temp adjustment to the calories.

It's normal. Just eat healthy as much as you can.

You could try taking some probiotics. I usually fight bloating too. Watch out for any foods you might be sensitive to. For me it's eggs/dairy, so I've found alternative high protein foods and use vegan protein powder for supplementation. Eat lots of greens too, and make sure you're getting enough healthy fats. I find when I keep my fiber/fat portions up, I don't get as much bloating.

It's permanent (at least while you keep bulking). It's best to embrace it really. I have been bulking for 9 months and I look like a Hungry Hippo.

I'm eating 7000Kcal for a slight bulk but I'm not bloated, nor stuffing myself with food. I use no gainer shakes.

Most of my meals are liquid and many of which contain a good amount of healthy fats from açaí, coconut or cashew nuts. There are other alternatives like cocoa, raisins and dried blueberries which are low in volume and very high in calories (besides being natural)

Below you can find some ideas for your bulking diet that will allow you to grow without stuffing yourself with food.

Being allergic to something doesn't make fat. icon_razz.gif Yes, bulking will possibly add some body fat if you're not being super strict about your nutrition. The powder that you're taking is likely not adding any body fat. Just be more strict about the other food you're eating.

But yeah, the sad truth is if you're trying to bulk and add a lot of muscle you WILL gain some fat in the process, but as long as you keep it manageable you can always cut it by backing off on the calories.

ok bloat has died down. It seems like it happens every time in increase calories. I look a little bigger after three weeks . However the scale still says 195 and not moving. How is it i look bigger but scale doesnt move.Should i increase by 500 and go up to 4500. I do a ton of cardio because im an athlete so i do need to increase my cals i think , but at the same time body needs to adjust .

Too early to see the difference on the scales, bulking is even slower to gain weight than cutting is to lose it. Don't forget, 10kg over the course of a 6 month bulk would be a great result for someone who already trains, therefore you would expect to have gone up by about 300g by now (sad but true).

Also, this might be obvious but you should weigh yourself at the same time of day in each instance (many people don't do this).

I think its just my body adjusting because it only lasts for two days at most. I feel like a fat ass somedays but then i get on the scale and prob only gained about two lbs same bodyfat lol. I think its just something i will need to fight through. In the past i have quit because i felt i was getting too fat.Somewhere along the line i got a really fast metabolism. My body can get thin quick so if i just keep going , and just keep my shirt on for a few months ill be fine. icon_cool.gif

Even though you need to accept some fat increase while you grow, it doesn't need to be much. There's only so much lean mass you can gain naturally and past a certain threshold you will not make any additional lean mass gains and only gain fat.

A rule I always use in my bulk diets is to never increase your body fat more than 2%.

Mike why are you bulking? You should be doing cardio more and losing the fat on your pecs. Too many cals. Way too many! Do 4 types of exercises regular bench, incline, decline and pec flys. You will be happier w your bod. Promise you this.
