    Nation’s oldest gay bookstore to reopen in Philadelphia

    Philly AIDS Thrift says it’s taking over the shop called Giovanni’s Room. It had closed in May after 41 years, citing competition from online outlets.

    This is GREAT news.

    It's tough for ANY bookstore to keep afloat, but this one holds enough historic relevance in Philly to make it worth the effort for a pro-LGBT nonprofit to keep it running, or at least keep it from turning into a Subway sandwich shop or something.

    On a sidenote, the book which the shop's named after ('Giovanni's Room') is fucking fantastic.

    i bought a book or 2 from that place when i used to live near philly. i hope they can find a way to make it profitable.
