They are cute but is this You Tube stuff an actual career? Gay boys using You Tube for various things to promote, whatever, Davy Wavy started this and it appears he has no other career than self promoting via You Tube. Reality TV bozo's who became 'famous' for doing nothing. Am I missing something? Is my Engineering career so passé?

You'd be surprised the amount of money a "YouTube" celebrity can make off of "vlogging". Some of them make well over six figures a year.

On the other hand, there are tons of excellent YouTubers who are being screwed out of "royalties" as well.

EDIT: Don't quit your day job (especially as an engineer). It can take years to build a solid viewership. icon_wink.gif

Six fucking figures? icon_eek.gif I am in the wrong profession. icon_lol.gif, The 'obsession' with You Tube, especially among pre millennials, (whatever the generation is called after them) is getting crazy. Only ten years ago, music videos, now, its part confessional, part TV show, part business and extremely full of commercials

pazzy saidyes, it's an actual career for some people out there where they talk about their opinions, show their lives and basically a whole lot of bullshit. i blame the whole reality tv show bullshit for that where you had shows like "the simple life", "laguna beach", "the real world" and basically bullshit. they're basically reality tv show rejects.

i can't stand most vloggers or internet attention whore stardom people, gay or straight. most of the gay ones (such as davey wavey, tyler oakley, the mark and ethan couple) are the absolute worse though and their supporters are just as bad. they're nauseating to watch because they're too full of themselves and yet they haven't done squat for anybody to be feeling that way to begin with. i don't like this whole culture of "look @ me. you must worship me. i am important to you even though i've done nothing to help you at all besides take a picture of myself, record a video on youtube saying what's on my mind, and all this bullshit." these guys want MORE credit than what they really deserve-none. davey wavey actually having a fan club gathering to meet him and these guys parading around like celebrities. give me a break.

and i know there's guys in here that will say i'm hating on those guys BUT yet they wouldn't be saying shit if i was trashing the kardashians. icon_confused.gif like how you can't stand the kardashians, paris hilton, the real housewives of madison county and etc BUT got love for davey wavey, tyler oakley and most of these youtube vloggers that are basically the same thing.

There are some gems though. Qaadir Howard is pretty good, and channels such as the Key of Awesome. Also YouTube is good for finding obscure long forgotten TV shows and movies.

I agree, there is a lot of garbage there, but there is also good stuff.

I guess that would explain why the "traditional' career is uninteresting to the newest generation, its too easy to become an instant celebrity now a days. You don't even need college, just be computer smart. With college costs rising and those who do graduate, cant find jobs because they slacked on courses and are now sacked with student debt, instant easy money via celebrity sounds like the way to go. There is always porn too, to help pay for any debt
