    General angsty type argh rant.

I'm losing my hair. Quite rapidly. And it f*cking terrifies me. It's making me feal far older than my 33 years - and look much older - and making me feal ugly (for the want of an expression) undateable etc.

Is there life after going all Patrick Stewart?

Or do I just buy a range of hats.

Not everyone thinks that way. I think young guys that shave their heads even though they have a full head of hair are the ones that look like concentration camp victims.

Hair transplants with cloned hair cells will be $2000 and undetectable in 5 years time so just hang in there.

I really hope you're right. It seems like a cure is perpetually 5 years away and current hair transplant results do not impress me at all.

Propecia and Finasteride actually work. Slows the loss drastically and actually allows some regrowth. The Propecia liquid you can get cheaply in places like Sam's Club and Finasteride is proscription but cheap and most insurance plans cover it. The sooner you start, the more hair you will have. My older son got so bald in grad school (his mother's genes) that he tried the cue ball look. That didn't work in business so he started doing the above and now has enough coverage to be mostly unnoticeable. And for god's sake, don't compensate by lots of facial hair. It is obvious and draws attention to the baldness.

A decade ago a friend of mine had a scalp reduction. It only lasts so long; now, he has a bald spot (but the front hairline will stay in place forever). Still, given the expense and the pain instead of "growing hair" he'd have been much better off and had a much easier time shaving his head and growing muscles.

Those drugs can cause some awful sexual side effects though, like low libido and erectile dysfunction. Id rather be bald than not be able to have sex.

I feel your pain. Hated losing my hair and still struggle with it. Also found, despite what so many on here say, that guys prefer guys with hair on their head. If I'm out and about, I get many more looks and conversations if I have a hat on then if I do not.

I don't wear a hat as much any longer, guess I've finally quit caring and deciding to accept what I can not change.

    Really?

I use finasteride and I never had any libido / erectile problems. My dad has been using it for decades and never had any problem either. My head is full of hair and my dick works very well, thank you.

You're a handsome guy with a nicely shaped head...and a rockin' body, so don't sweat it. You've got style, and I think you could pull it off...and I think your beard is hot, so make the most of the hair you have. And who said
    Patrick Stewart isn't sexy?

I've heard of Male Pattern Baldness, but not "Argghgh Baldness."

    How does it work?

I don't know a single guy who says baldness is a deal breaker. But I feel you. It sucks getting older and losing youth.

There's some anecdotal reports saying this. Scared me off it for a while but but then I decided it was a very small % and not clinically demonstrated so I went back on. No problem so far. Finasteride was originally developed for prostate issues and the hair benefit noticed later. Maybe the sexual issues were extraneous but the issue is floating around. I asked my doc and he dismissed it but it is a bit scary.

My hairline started receding in my early 20s, and then in my late 20s the actual hair I still had started thinning. I was never bothered enough by my hair loss to try any chemical treatments or consider any surgical procedures. I was 28 when I had my first buzz cut and have never had a bad hair day since. I've been shaving it with a razor for the past few months (the Gillette Fusion Power razor with the vibrating head works great for that).

I've said it before in another thread, finasteride/ Rogain foam combo. The foams stays on your blood stream longer and is more effective.

my results have been pretty impressive. i should post before and after pics.

    Also no side effects whatsoever.
