Arthroscopy

I'm scheduled to have an arthroscopy of my knee for a torn meniscus, which the doc will shave down. I'm a surgical RN so I'm familiar with the procedure, I just don't know what to expect on the recovery side. I get mixed messages.

Who here has had an arthroscopic menisectomy and how long/difficult was your recovery? I've only taken a week off work ( which the surgeon seems to think is ok) but my job is fine with me taking longer if I need it.

How long was your recovery, and how long was it before you were back in the gym?

    Each case will be different.

Have had arthroscopies on both, was a week before I could walk on left knee (was a mess also needing acl reconstruction) while on the right I walked out of the recovery room without crutches

You're a surgical RN and getting mixed messages? If your provider or PA or NP can't provide these answers, why are you asking RJ?

Take off of month, just to be sure. You can always come back earlier, you know.

The mixed messages aren't from the surgeons. The two surgeons I've seen seem to think its a quick recovery, but canvassing others who've had the procedure, I get everything from a few days to six to eight weeks. There seems to be a high degree of individual variance. Was curious about other members' experiences.

And I'm covered for more time if I need it.
