It's mind boggling that there's some girl on YT that makes a gajillionz of dollars talking about make-up. And there's some other guy that makes crazy YT money just from playing videogames and adding commentary as he plays.

Yep....I remember reading about it when it first opened. There is a thread about it somewhere on RJ. icon_smile.gif

I have also read that YouTube has changed what they count as a view which has resulted in a big decrease in getting revenue from ads through youtube. I have heard that it has made it a lot more difficult to make a living from YouTube because of it. It does not surprise me. Google tends to do things that make it less profitable for people to use their stuff. Same thing with their search engine advertising. They just care about maximizing their profits which is of course their right to do so. The way that they do it does end up hurting individuals and small businesses.

i know right.... these folks are getting paid to do nothing basically. pretty sure that folks will either jump along the bandwagon or stop paying attention to these folks if the word got around that folks were making money off of their videos. i honestly think that people in general are against folks basically making a buck without putting in any work especially nowadays.

it's mind boggling but in a good sense. I think it should inspire people to know that there are many avenues to take in order to have a good career. I remember there were a few asian users who were making comedy videos and stuff and then as they got popular they started collaborating and made cameo appearances and raised the views even higher. Very smart tactic

Forget the internet...the real career of the future is in medical marijuana dispensaries. Well, maybe that's still the career of the internet, once it's cleared by the feds.

I'm not surprised because if you have the right personality and sense of humor, people will be drawn to you and this translates well into YouTube. Even if these people aren't doing much, I feel that in this economy right now, it's good to be resourceful and think out of the box.

Ugh, that's too bad. I kinda hate Playa Vista. But that place is exploding. There's new construction everywhere. Office space, retail, apartments. It's nuts.

Also, Twitter is opening an office somewhere on the westside. I think Santa Monica or Venice.
