There needs to be more SYTYCD talk on this forum. Or there needed to be more talk rather, the season is nearly over and we don't know if it's getting renewed icon_sad.gif

In any case, yay for the routine.

    How avant garde.

The men had good chemistry. The 2 women didn't impress me.

Funny. I watch this show all the time and saw this routine purely as platonic we're-all-in-this-together kinda stuff. This is the Final Four. The last two men & women left "standing" on a night where they will be competing against each other, yet ironically they needed each other to get to this point in the competition.

Romantic? I'm not seeing it that way.

Besides, SYTYCD has done same sex partnering & group numbers many times before. Not exactly breaking news.

I'm a long time fan of SYTYCD and agree with search4more (and not just because he's a total babe). Though previously recorded by several artists, the highest-charting version of the song "Wind Beneath my Wings" was recorded in 1988 by singer and actress Bette Midler for the soundtrack to "Beaches", a film that chronicles the friendship between two best friends over 30+ years.

Post something nice, pull up a chair, and watch the criticisms fly. In the media perception is highly important. Two men are dance partners in a song about love and support. Two women are dance partners in a song about love and support. To a kid or teenager, it's important to see that same sex couples can be partners. It's not awkward. And they don't have to conform to heteronormative attire. I went to a highschool that banned same-sex partners at school dances. Battling homophobia starts with protests and marches, but it's tempered by pervasive images of acceptance and normality in the media.

I wish they could've picked a less melodramatic song, but the performance was really sweet.
