No Jew would have joined the Nazi's. The Nazi's hated the Jews. Republicans HATE gay people! They pass legislation to take away our rights. They block legislation on hate crimes against us. If we die in the street, they wouldn't care... so why on Earth would any gay man support these bigots?

ummmm... because some of the biggest Republican supporters on RJ really aren't gay at all? Just pretending to be gay to mess with us, to demoralize us and weaken our resolve against anti-gay Republican legislation?

Or... because they are truly selfish, and think their closeted interests are best served by siding with the Republicans and selling the rest of us gays down the river?

Though one would have to wonder, in the second case, would they come here to promote their turncoat behavior? So that I have to lean towards the first scenario: anti-gay Republicans coming here to disrupt this site, even while pretending to be gays themselves.

You'll notice most of them don't have very convincing gay "backstories" about boyfriends or partners, dating, or coming out, no gay club experiences, or any of the other things most of the other members here talk about at least occasionally.

That lack is striking to me. The guys here who are the most pro-Republican are the least likely to discuss general gay subjects, and very rarely their own alleged gay experiences. How very odd! And telling. It's challenging to discuss things you've never done yourself, nor will.

The gay Republicans drink the Kool-Aid, believing whatever the Republicans and Fox News tells them, instead of thinking for themselves.

They want lower taxes, smaller government, and deregulation.

    Lower taxes ?!
How about Mitt Romney and his filthy rich buddies who pay NO TAXES ?
How about all the corporations that pay NO TAXES ?

"Smaller government ?" What is it ? Can you tell me ?

Republicans have given you "Citizens United," which allows corporations to buy elections.

Deregulation gives you polluted air, water, and land, plus a whole host of other things that are bad for everybody.

Republicans make every effort to prevent people from voting because they know that a low voter turnout always favors the Republican candidates.

    GAY RIGHTS ?
You didn't get them from Republicans.
In fact, every single time, it has been Republicans who have fought against our right to marry.

Hi sportsjock. I suspect you did this unknowingly but usually it would be a guttersnipe that would put those two words together unless accompanied maybe with the word hunter or something in that sort of context, because it's kind of a shanda, an expression that isn't said. It simply isn't kosher.

Maybe a more sensitive title could have instead read something like Gay Republicans are like Jumbo Shrimp.

Shrimp's not kosher either, but the saying wouldn't be so offending or something a cruel scumwad would purposely use.

How offensive you ask? Well, for instance...

    http://forward.com/articles/190783/israel-proposes-bill-to-outlaw-use-of-the-word-naz/
Israel’s Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved on Sunday a bill that would forbid the use of the word “Nazi” in any form, as well as words with similar sounds, for any reason. Use of the word Nazi would be allowed only for “educational purposes, documentation, historical or scientific research.” Offenders would face up to six months in prison and a fine of up to 100,000 shekels ($28,000). The draft law also outlaws “insulting someone by wishing or expressing hope that the Nazis’ goals should be fulfilled” as well as “lamenting the fact that the Nazis failed to achieve their goals.” The bill would not prohibit calling actual Nazis as such.

So if it is possible for you to change your title, I'd respectfully request that and I'd imagine that many Jewish forum members would appreciate that as well. Thank you.

+100000000 totally inappropriate and callous title, what the hell is wrong with some people on here? He actually thought he made a funny point by comparing one with the other?

It would be completely disgusting and ever so revealing of character if he'd done that on purpose.

But my read of that was not that the OP was so callous though, yes, the title certainly is as you say. I'm not assuming the OP was being crude to an entire community intentionally but that he accidentally did a little faux pas.

Im not from USA so you mind clarifying this to me:

    republicans = anti gay rights

    democrats = pro gay rights

and thats it? Because really in my country you have many shades of everything. Some branches of the conservative party that are pro-gay rights. And some liberals that are super harsh with some stuff that is usually attached to the conservative parties, so to say "if you're conservative you're anti-gays" would be extremely stupid.

Oh, but already we can see a predictable pattern. As gay civil rights are beginning to take hold, some Republicans are now claiming they were never against them. Using every kind of prevarication to try to erase their virulent anti-gay history.

Well, memories are short, and history is frequently rewritten. Perhaps I'll live long enough to see Republicans claiming they were always the champions of gay civil rights. And it was the Democrats who opposed gays. It wouldn't surprise me.

It was as recently as the 2012 US Presidential election that I read RJ members saying that Obama was the enemy of gays, and Romney & Republicans their true friends. Which of course must be true, as I see Republicans trying to pass pro-gay legislation all the time, against fierce opposition from President Obama and Congressional Democrats. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah it is extremely stupid. Basically lumping every republican into the same category. I consider myself more of a libertarian.

Republicans are everything they accuse Democrats of being.

Big Government - Republicans tell us who we can marry, women what they can do with their bodies, force their religion on us.

They call themselves Christians, but they hate the poor, sick and elderly.

When you say 'my country', to which country are you referring? Your profile has Burundi as your first location and same-sex sexual activity is still a crime there (though rarely enforced in practice). I'm not sure the main political parties of Burundi are comparable with those of the US, in terms of attitudes to LGBT issues (though there are probably plenty of people at the extreme end of the GOP who wish homosexuality was still a crime).

I picked Burundi randomly since RJ wont let me leave the country option blank. My country is actually Uruguay.

Aren't some issues so important that they "overwhelm" many other issues? ie: if a candidate supports certain an ope-pit copper mine in your backyard, doesn't that outweigh his/her advocacy of other issues?

In both cases the answers are complex; I only point of that single-issue voting isn't as simple as it might otherwise seem.

Big Government - Republicans tell us who we can marry Truth be told, most of us could care less who you marry, most of us think that the government should be out of the marriage business. You seem to forget that it wasn't too long ago that the majority of Democrats were against gay marriage, until they started to evolve in order to take advantage of an overestimated gay vote! , women what they can do with their bodies I agree women should be able to do whatever they want with their body, but when your mother or any other woman spread their legs and allowed a life to begin inside them, they lost the right to destroy that life. Just a few questions, how do you think you got here (because no matter how much they practice, two men can not make a baby)? do you really think that if people were able to tell they were going to have a gay child the majority would choose to keep it?, force their religion on us.The reality is, there are less voices on our side trying to force "their religion" on you than the voices on your side trying to force us from the public square because of our religion, and this in a country founded on the principle of freedom of religion and not freedom from religion.

They call themselves Christians, but they hate the poor Tell us , honestly, when is the last time you or you and your business associates paid the way for a group of "poor" children to go to summer camp? When was the last time you and your children stood in below zero weather in the dark outside a homeless shelter handing out food to those too late to secure a bed in the shelter? When was the last time you made a sizable donation to the local food bank? , sick Please do tell us when was the last time you made a sizable donation to a hospital like the Huntsman Cancer Center, Primary Childrens Hospital or St. Judes? What percentige of your annual income do you give to such foundations like the Lamplighter foundation, Make a Wish, Wounded Warrior or The Little Sisters of the Poor? and elderly. Maybe you wouldn't mind telling us when the last time you and your children made the trip to a nursing home to spend a Sunday afternoon visiting the elderly? Or the last time you and your family spent money that you actually earned to buy christmas presents for elderly people in your neighborhood? When was the last time you got a group of people together to help clean up the yard of the elderly woman down the block?

Many of you guys voted for Obama full well knowing he was against gay marriage. You voted for him even though he had clear prejudices based on his extracurricular activities. Then suddenly "evolves" on his views when he sees the writing on the walls and it becomes politically expedient. You voted for him because he was "the lesser of two evils." That's what the gay Republicans are doing in their minds.

Gay marriage isn't so important to me that I would support a party of reckless disregard. But I'm not voting for anyone anyway so I won't be voting for either evil.

I know people tend to forget things quickly but the GOP made gay marriage the main focus of the 2004 election. The majority of Republican law makers have been oppose to gay rights in some form. That is why most gay people are Democrats. Same reason why most black people are Democrats when the Democratic party started supporting civil rights and the Southern Democrats who were opposed left for the Republican Party. I guess gays are the new black. There are exceptions like Lisa Murkowski who was the first GOP senator to come out for gay marriage. I wouldn't go to the extreme of Jewish Nazis since the GOP isn't out to kill them. I would equate it more to Black Republicans in the 50s supporting a party who was for segregation and stopping black people from voting.

Sweeping generalizations are usually wrong but evidently it depends on who is making them and how PC it is perceived to be. Beating up Republicans is like beating up cigarette smokers; it is totally acceptable to do so.

I'm glad that south beach and shybuffguy are on here to articulate for the rest of us who are Republicans. I tend agree with Ravensong on most of the issues. It's only when confronted with such obvious prejudice and bully tactics that I care about politics. Ironically if it weren't for them, I probably wouldn't even vote. But thanks to them, I plan to vote a straight Republican ticket.

I find gay Republicans offensive. My comparison of Jewish Nazi is something that does not exist or could never exist. Just like a minority could never be part of KKK!

Nazi's hated the Jews - therefore no Jewish person in their right mind would be a Nazi!

KKK hates minorities. - therefore no minority in their right mind would be part of KKK or want to join.

Republicans hate gays. - They pass legislation denying us our rights. The discriminate against us. Block HATE Crimes bills and a Gay person supports these Morons?

Now you understand the stupidity of being a Gay Republican!
