    http://www.forbes.com/sites/quora/2012/02/21/what-should-you-do-if-you-suspect-a-car-has-been-following-you/

Thursday night, I washed my car at the 25 cent car wash. Someone actually was following me. I was headed home but didn't go there. This person was very close to my bumper so I tried to lose them by making several side street turns, they definitely were following me. So I got to a busy main street and they continued to follow, I did the 'rocking chair' move, squeezed between two cars in one lane. The person following me changed lanes as well behind the others. They were keeping up with me. I was coming up to a traffic light which had a left hand turn lane. The person following me came up on my left side, in the left turn lane and stopped in the same position, I look over and its some spaced out looking chick, black hair, about in her 20's in a faded red older Honda accord with one headlight aimed upward. She looked all goofy giving me some sort of hand signals. The light turned green and I drove off, hard on the gas, the bitch proceeded to move out of the left turn lane and follow once again. We hit another traffic light, this time I went into the left turn lane, first car with her behind me. All of a sudden, she pulls out from left turn lane and into the lane on my right, she is the first car also. Again, I look over, and she looks like she on heroin, her eyes were just bulging she continues to make some hand gestures.

I left my windows up the whole time. The light turned green, I made my left turn, this time she couldn't follow, she would have to go to next light and make a turn around. So I gassed it, made the next light, left turn, left turn again. I think I finally lost her, made my way home.

If she wanted to admire my car, that is one thing to try once, but to continue to pursue is creepy, especially looking all fucked up in a dirty car. I didn't have my cell phone otherwise I would have called the police.

I live in LA, not a small town where everybody knows everybody, with all the road rage, car to car shootings, you just don't trust people on the road, especially dark outside. Don't care if the driver turned out to be female either, just something wasn't right about her

On the bright side, she was not good at it. I wonder if I could've tailed you successfully.

In my 30's my family and I knew the widow of one of the 3rd vice presidents of Ford Motor Company. She sold me his 1966 Lincoln. For over ten years I loved & cherished this flawless classic with 19,000 miles on it (just like the one below). I used it sparingly as a parade or concours car - for exhibition and light driving.

One day I used the car to pick up friends at the airport. I was in the 'Arrivals' area loading their luggage into the trunk and I noticed three guys in a pickup truck right behind me - staring at the car. I was used to people looking the car over and thought little of it. Later on my way out of the airport I noticed the pickup truck was behind me. I made a few turns and they followed, over and over again. I tried to lose them before I got to my house. I had thought I lost them.........until the next morning when I discovered the car had been stolen right out of my garage sometime during the night. I never saw my car again. We've all got to be careful when freaks follow us home.

I wouldn't worry about it. Clearly you don't know her and anyone who wanted to do you any serious harm would make a better job of following you without getting rumbled.

That's what you think, I found one of these in my right front tire (sidewall) the next morning, I have low profile tires and it wasn't there when I washed the car. I think when she pulled from behind me to my right side, she threw this screw at my tire when I wouldn't roll down my window and give her attention. I just had the tire fixed this morning, they used a sidewall patch, I hope it holds.

Imagine, someone throwing just one of these in the roadway, there are some sick people out there icon_twisted.gif

Hmm, so how do you expect to get any decent advice on the subject if you only tell us half the story and then drip-feed us the information? Is there something else you're not telling us, like who you have severely pissed off recently?

Look, I don't know who this crazy bitch was, maybe she was interested in my car, I had just washed/detailed it, drove home normal, didn't cut anyone off. Maybe she thought I was a celebrity driving a Bentley, (my car and badging does look like one), I did follow safety protocol, made several turns, lane changes and never rolled down my window even when she pulled beside me, twice. She never once got in front of me so I could get her plate number, so she seemed to know what she was doing even when it appeared she was high on something. Just because its a chick, doesn't mean they cant be dangerous. What if I had a gun in the car with me? pointed at her, would that scare her off? You don't follow someone, out of nowhere without taking caution of the person you are following? She was bold in her driving actions. The screw in my tire 'just happened' the same time of this incident, it does not appear to be a coincidence but a doing of some fanatic who for whatever reason, I was the target of. Other than that, I cant explain her behavior, I thought it was a guy, I only knew it was a chick when she first pulled beside me on the left.

Look on the bright side. If you manage to survive, it has all the makings of a gripping Hollywood action script.

Drive to the nearest police station. That's what my grandma did when that happened to her. Worked like a charm!

Yes, good advice. If you think you are being followed, drive to a public place. Do not drive directly home. Police and fire departments are open twenty-four hours a day and are always a good place to go. If you know you are being followed, call the police and give them the information such as your vehicle description, the description of the vehicle that is following you, your location, and direction of travel.

Did you have a flat, or did you have one of your break lights out? I usually flag people down if I notice. Then again, I don't do it at night, and I live in the suburbs of Utah where people are less suspicious of each other. And I don't aggressively chase people for miles.

You know what, scratch that. That's kinda creepy.

I'm gonna follow you to find out where there's a 25-cent car wash. icon_eek.gif

Now that you mention it, one time I was walking across downtown Portland when I started thinking that two guys were following me. They were talking to each other in German. I made a bunch of unnecessary turns and zig-zags and they stayed half a block or less behind me all the way. When I walked past the doors of a gay strip club, they went in. I kept going. WTF?

OP drives a Bentley and takes it to the 25 cent car wash? icon_confused.gif

Also, have you considered the possibility that she thought you were cute and wanted your digits? I mean, unless you got a giant rainbow flag on the back of your car, she wouldn't have known she was barking up the wrong tree. icon_lol.gif

And one more thing.. if you think someone is following you, don't go into Fast And Furious mode and try to ditch the follower. You create a dangerous situation for yourself and anyone around you. You should just drive to the nearest police station. Once the follower realizes where you're going, they'll go away.

That's freaky! I think you did exactly what you should do. The only think I might have done is to try and get a picture of her or her car or her license plate with my cell phone. I'd also stay in a well lit and busy area, even if that meant going in circles. That way there are plenty of others around should you need them. For sure, DON'T go home. That's just a recipe for disaster as Jockbod mentioned!

I would have done what you did and kept looking for turns that she could not make, but any way you look at it, it's a bit freaky for sure!

Hey, after buying a Bentley, it's probably all he can afford to get it washed! LOL

He actually indicated it 'looks' like one but I'm guessing it's not....hence the 25 cent car wash is justified! LOL

Point #1: He says his car looks like a Bentley which, for the non-car crowd, is totally believable

Point #2: "Drive to the police station and you'll be fine" is utter crap. This presumes the person is in their right head at the time. I was attacked across the street from a major district station one time RIGHT beneath a CCTV camera by a crazy homeless lesbian chick who HAD BEEN SITTING ON THE FRONT STEPS OF THE STATION. Driving normally and calling 911 are a better option since your continued motion gives you an advantage over driving to and stopping at a supposed "safe" location. That being said, the few times i've been followed by thugs they don't keep up for long as I'm WAY too good at loosing people.

Why were you scared of that chick n the first place? She was high, if you wanted to get rid of her all you had to do was park you car and call 911.

I made a quick trip to the car wash, at night, I did not have my cell with me, I didn't know the driver was a chick until I got to a main street with more traffic. Before that, I was doing a series of left, right turns and circling neighborhood blocks just to see if this person was actually following me. I thought about pulling into a CVS parking lot, but this person would have just done the same and waited for me. I am not a confrontational person, otherwise I would have parked, got out of my car, and asked the proper question, "why are you following me", but you never do that! I kept driving until I lost her.

Well, dammit, I was gonna duck in there. For backup, you know?
