Saddam was effective at keeping the warring factions in line despite the reasons for invading the country. In others words, we never should have meddled.

My opinion has always been either pull completely out or go all in and take over the country. The half-way-in-half-way out approach was bleeding too many American lives and the Iraqi factions need a strong military presence to keep them from killing each other after the killing of Saddam left that void.

Exactly, especially after the west gave so much political and diplomatic encouragement to the opposition in Syria(which included various jihadists).

Iraq was always a failed state, totally reliant on the US` guns and dollars.

Ironically, Assad was a bulwark against these groups(like Saddam Hussein in Iraq), and even Russia, in its support for Assad`s regime!

Iraq told USA to leave. This mess was based on a lie told by Bush and Cheney. No WMDs found. Iraq was never and imminent threat. GOP can always find money for wars, but not for infrastructure.

The American war crime and crime against humanity that was the Iraq war and occupation led to the death of over a million Iraqis, FYI. American allies and policies in the region led to the creation and growth of ISIS, another FYI.

you really think going back, spreading more chaos, waging more war is going to magically "solve" this problem? That is, in spite of ALL precedent to the contrary.

Ridiculous. Imperialism and war created this current phase of destruction and death, do you really think imperialism and more war are going to solve it? Not to mention, America and the West are continuing to make record arms sales to the very regional powers which are behind most of the current violence, who have supported the counterrevolutions against the Arab Spring, who have and continue to finance and arm most of the region's ruthless Islamist groups (including al-Qaeda, ISIS, and others): Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain... the Gulf Arab monarchy dictatorships that we call "allies" and "friends" (and not to mention Israel) are the most destructive forces in the region. But not a word on that!

"According to a report by Arab News, ISIL militants have moved on from beheading to burying women and children alive in mass graves."

"They are absolutely killing every Christian they see. This is a genocide in every sense of the word. They want everyone to convert and they want Sharia law to be the law of the land."

You all know from my postings in the Spirituality forums that I study the Jewish Revolt.

Rome had its Isis with the Jewish rebels. To put an end to the Militant Messiah Movement, Rome had to destroy the Hebrew Temple, manufacture a Pacifist Messiah from Galilee, and create a new religion.

Tell me we're not dealing with the same level of rebellion today. Explain that. You may even say it's worse than the Jewish rebels and the sicarri and the zealots.

We cannot afford it. Not financially, not politically and certainly not morally/spiritually.
There is plenty of blame to go around in the mess that is the middle east. The USA was just the latest meddler. These countries exist because of French and British meddling after the breakup of the Ottoman Empire.
Honestly, I get a bit tired of the criticism of the US. I join and criticise my own country for the travesties done in my name. But if we get involved we are criticized. If we don't get involved we are criticized. Which is it?
You can't have both. As powerful as the US is we cant fix every place and stop every genocide.
It's someone else's turn. We are tired and broke.
I want to see someone else try and see if they can do a better job.
Go save the Muslims in CAR, and the Rohingya in Myanmar, and the Christians in Mosul.

Strange how Clinton didn't order an invasion of Iraq costing 4500 lives, 35,000 wounded cost of $1 Trillion that Bush borrowed, & then this year GOP blocked Veterans healthcare & of course GOP blamed Obama!

Another Gay Right Wing Nut Job, trying to accuse Clinton. Dubya said Iraq was imminent threat.

Religion is the base of it all. It will never end as long as people believe that their God is the right God, and attempt at all levels to stamp out the beliefs of others.

freedomisntfree: Damn good thing you're a personal trainer because you're far too stupid to do anything else.

We are six years into foreign policy directed by the human wrecking ball in the White House.

Stupid Liberals worship him as the smartest man in any room. Therefore stupid liberals try to blame Bush/Cheney, and a war that had overwhelming bipartisan support, for the disaster which is American foreign policy today.

Newsflash for Maobamorons: Your Dear Leader already declared victory in Iraq, remember?

"We are leaving behind a sovereign, stable, self-reliant Iraq...This is a tremendous achievement."

Announce a withdrawal date to the enemy.
Fail to negotiate a Status of Forces Agreement.
Set the leader of ISIS free.
Aid ISIS in Syria, then sit back and watch as it invades Iraq and slaughters our former allies, trashing 9 years of incalculable treasure and sacrifice by our military.

    What could go wrong?

Everything the evil clown touches turns to crap, and stupid liberals either don't realize it, or they can't get enough of it.

Wyndahoi: We cannot afford it. Not financially, not politically and certainly not morally/spiritually...

We can't afford to destroy ISIS (or whatever the bloodthirsty cockroaches are calling themselves today)?

The United States has a autoimmune disease -- the virus of Liberalism.

The Dummycrat party and the disease feed off of each other. They are bankrupting the nation spiritually, morally, economically, politically, and culturally.

Leaders of Western countries around the world realize that the West cannot afford not to destroy ISIS. Here in the U.S. jackass Liberals talk about not having a strategy, and leading from behind.

If Maobama pretended that ISIS was the Tea Party, he would come up with endless creative ways to destroy it.

We cannot afford it financially? Liberals find bottomless pots of money for endless unconstitutional schemes. There's no shortage of money to nationalize and destroy things like healthcare, education, energy, and the financial system. There's never a shortage of money for stupid, failed Liberal schemes like wars on drugs, poverty, and illiteracy.

There's no shortage of money to finance an invasion made up of an unknown number of illiterate, sick, criminal, and terrorist illegal aliens, because they are future Dummycrat voters.

Dummycrats can never find money for legitimate federal government responsibilities, such as national defense, national security, and securing the borders.

America definitely is a weaker, poorer, demoralized nation, thanks especially to six years of the Ebama virus, by design.

Liberals love preemptive surrender. They loved it in Vietnam. They want to do it again in Iraq and Afghanistan.

What should we be doing? For one thing, we should be giving the Kurds everything they want, and not going through Baghdad. We should unleash our air power. And we should be acting like the leader of the free world, as Republican presidents have done.

Why can't Maobama do that? Because the whole world knows that he has betrayed our allies and tried to appease our enemies.

This is the human wrecking ball who stupid Liberals worship as the smartest man in any room.

P.S. A real president would ask Congress for a declaration of war on ISIS and other Islamo-Nazi cockroaches. They declared war on us, remember???
