There are several, very good foundations that do much for kids in this situation. I donate to Pride, in Seattle, and we also have Lambert House. Anyone with the ability to donate should look up one of these, and help them - they're always struggling. For my money, the small, local outfits are the most worth and in need.

in nyc, plenty of homeless youth pretend to be gay because there are more shelter options and resources for gay homeless adolescents than non.

also, very unfortunately, survival sex is a big thing here especially for the transgendered and they're targeted by older creepy assholes

I know someone who works at Lambert house. Same thing is true in NYC with Ali Forney Center, "The Church" at St. Luke-in-the-Fields, and others.
