eagermuscle saidWell, not exactly a bajillion times...
sometimes I feel like you have word docs for frequently asked questions on Real jock
Destinharbor saidSure. You don't have to be big and muscular. Just be fit and active.
I am not fit, in the sense of playing sports all the time. I was made fun of as a kid so the whole physical fitness thing doesn't work for me. I am really just a nerd, I am not all about video games and anti social behavior. I will drink at bars and I will talk about other things. But I am not the gym type. I might put a better picture half naked, but it might not impress people here.
*adjusting to polite but "i feel you but i dont want to explode angrily" tone*
ok so, I consider myself a nerd too. I don't play a lot of sports, I don't even know how to play a lot of sports.
But, I let myself be adventurous. It's nice to learn new things. It opens mind. I guess you can say I was simultaneously exploring atheism while learning new things in college and learning lifting and trying to be more social. Sometimes it's just good to go out of comfort zone, even a little tip toe at a time.
I started lifting weights using Stronglift 2 years ago, and while I am a bit slow gainer because eating a lot frequently isn't something I can do with my busy life, I still try to eat more when I am eating. I have gained weights and improved strength (at least based on my increasing weights that I can lift.)
I understand that you might be shy and anti social and stuff. But when you go to the gym, remember that it's about you. If people say hi, they can, but you don't have to keep talking. I am lesser degree of shy, but I'm still shy. A gym is a facility that promotes health and fitness, not social, at least not the main goal anyway.
For a video game analogy, do you realize that every character needs to spend at least some time to train their STR/DEX/DEF/INT skill? Same goes to real life. It's fine that you don't play sports a lot, but ask yourself if it's fine to stay fit.
I watch a lot of japanese medical drama, and I am also interested in science, and I have come to realize that, with all this discovery and knowledge we have about how human body works and behave, we still have a lot of health issues in this world, even though most of them are not genetics and can be prevented. (like body injuries from bad form, weak body, or posture)
lastly, define "gym type". do you mean the ones who spend hours everyday for all weeks in the gym? there's different types of fitness. some people prefer having mirror muscles, some prefer having functional muscles. some want to be healthy, some want to delay aging. I mean, you could acknowledge that there are people who fit into that one particular type of personality/behavior, but not everyone is.
and finally, i know what you're saying that being a man is more than muscles. i dont know what works for you. but having a nice posture and nice health can help with intellectual pursuit and creativity too. You get sick less, you have more energy, you focus better. (ok im a hypocrite because im bad at the sleeping early part and focusing at school lol). Try not to think that everybody who lift/bulk are there for the muscle, learn to see past the stereotype/misconception. There are people who just keep themselves fit for maybe an hour a day, but they spend the other 23 hours doing other things with their lives.
Is there a way to get protein without eating the meat(hormone loaded) and powder? Because protein methods might work shortly, but long term effects are not worth it. Meat is so unhealthy is ridiculous, it's not treated properly and we feed animals to their own kind, instead of grain or grass feeding them.
So far I just eat more meat or when I eat out, I go for the meal with more meat. (but cut down on the fatty sauce or something.) and it's going great so far in my fast metabolism slow growth lol.
as far as the agriculture of meat goes.. that's not my department. But im sure nuts and tofu and soy could help too, if you dont mind farting a lot.
