One of the body parts that I love working are my calves. I can't have a leg day without it. I have a decent routine for them but last night when I was doing 'standing calf raises' I remembered one of my old trainers saying something about pointing the toes in a certain position while doing the raises. I want to say pointing them slightly inward but not sure.

Anyone know about this? Actually, if anyone has any exercises for calves that would be great.

    I'll have to try that.

What I do currently is super set Standing Calf with about 20 body weight raises and then use the stair machine.

NASM will tell you straight ahead, for almost any lift.

Variety....makes for the best, it seems to me...16.75 inches worth.

My calves are pretty big and attract a lot of attention. I don't like using any of the calf machines. It just doesn't feel right.

Instead I use the leg press. I position my feet so that the balls of my feet are on the edge of the platform. The workload is shifted to the front of the feet and the exercise becomes toe points instead of calf raises.

I used to run in the sand a lot too. That's a great exercise for working your calves.

Soccer, and football, players often have some pretty good sized calves.

I jump rope with ankle weights, it works really well and is good cardio.
