Why do people put on so much cologne, do they stink?

Ugh, I hate it when you can smell someone's cologene/perfume from 20ft away. The amount of a pin head or less should be more than enough .... Or just take a damned shower! icon_rolleyes.gif

It's worse when they take a cologne bath right before hitting the gym. Then their scent rubs off on all the equipment, and rubs off on you. Fuhhhhh.

Also hate it when you're walking behind a heavy cologne/perfume user and the shit is so strong you start to taste it in your mouth.

it depends what kind of cologne, but to be fair who gives a shit, the only thing is I don't get why some losers use cologne while working out? I don't wanna fucking smell your cheap shit while I am working out and out of breath

    gym must smell of sweat

What's worse is when they don't realise they stink and then they sit next to you on the bus or train, or stand behind you in a queue.

That's when you wish you could get some perfume and spray the shit out of them.

Depends which fragrance really. Two short bursts of spray on each wrist is more than enough.

I can't handle that and will often step away from those people. I recall being stuck in line at the supermarket with a perfumed lady in front of me so badly doused that it got on me. I had to strip down at home and shower myself and throw my clothing in the wash.

One of my nephews got into that when he was in mid teens if I remember right. I recall walking up the hallway in the hotel we were all staying in and I could smell him from the other side of the door. Ick.

A lot of them make me sneeze. My mother never liked perfume either. We believe in washing instead. I never use the stuff. The only thing I ever smell of is chlorine on my way back from the pool. Another smell I'm okay with because I've been around it so much is sun tan lotion. It smells beachy.

pazzy saidi agree. sometimes that shit sets off my allergies. folks need to be mindful that some people have respiratory problems like asthma and wearing too much cologne can set that shit off.

however, too much cologne is better than someone stinking period. icon_sad.gif

Stinking is why we have showers & baths. If they can afford cologne they can afford to wash.

My poor husband starts to sneeze around that stuff. The heavy perfume merely annoys me but he is physically affected by it.

I wonder if male heavy cologne users are insecure. They think they need every advantage to help them, and end up overdoing it.

One of my best female friends has a good rule for men and cologne- you should only be able to smell it when he has his arm around you.

And cologne is meant to entice. So it really doesn't belong in a professional setting. Unless you are a professional escort.

Usually people who wear too much cologne do so because they think the cologne is weak or "their body chemistry" causes them to soak up the scent. What is actually happening though, is that they apply it heavily and near their face/nose so they quickly become anosmic to the smell. It's similar to the reason why people can't smell their own rooms.

I hate when you smell before you see them, I volunteer at a hospital and one we were sitting there and we smelled it and seen no one then a minute later a lady waked in the door.

I remember highschool in the early 2000s being hell on my allergies. The guys in the locker room would literally pull out a can of axe and spray a cloud above them and turn around in it so the whole body was covered.

Once they found out it bothered me though...let's just say the police almost got called one time.

I don't wear cologne very often but when I do I just sprinkle it once on my neck and wrists. Now some people practically bathe in it and you can smell the strong odor downwind from them..
