Unbeliveable. He's not even apologetic for the "insensitive" remarks. He drops out because these remarks surfaced.

The Republican Side-Part Haircut - A Look at the Men's Hairstyles of the 2012 GOP Candidates

Whether your hair is thinning, or you've got a full head of hair, the "Republican Side-Part" is a doable and reliable image enhancer

    Question Regarding Republican Hairstyles.....

Do all male Republican Senators and Congressmen use the same stylist? I know this is a silly question, but the ALL have the same look. It is really creepy. You know the look, parted on the side, that weird drooping bang that almost feathers over to the side and man, hair-sprayed to death. Yuck.

Repukes look like animated mannequins from the late seventies. There's something a bit stiff and outdated and ill-fitting about most of their suits. Not to offend, but a sort of JC Penney off the rack look. Really clean, but yucky.

One can nearly always tell just by looking if a Congressperson is Dem or Repuke. Dems generally have better style and are frankly, better looking.

YIKES! This is me, New Year's Eve 2006, at a private party, just turning 57. Is this the hair look you mean? (And BTW, that $2000+ dinner jacket fit me like a glove, nothing ill-fitting or JC Penney about it)

Yet I'm not a Republican today, or when that pic was taken. Maybe my Republican and prep school background asserted itself at that moment?

But no, I'm being silly. And dispute your definitions. I agree most Republicans look contrived, and haven't the slightest clue how to wear a suit. Strange, because most of them are rich, how they got where they are politically, but I suppose nouveau riche, and grew up in rags. It does show, doesn't it?

Democrats & Liberals can wear their hair in similar ways. So I think your assertion in that regard is incorrect. The ill-fitting suits and unrefined mannerisms, however, are closer to the mark.

Not trying to under do your own CEO look, but yes, Art, you do have the typical republican politician doo. It does scream 'me conservative'. Maybe you did grow up with this look, your youth is from the 1950's and Beatles?, where this was probably the norm for all men regardless of politics. My youth was the late 60's mid 70's, as we know, a totally different scene. We had our hair parted in the middle, long, feathered, inspired by Farah Faucet, Shawn Cassidy, women as well as men.

Because the republicans continually yearn to be back to that by gone era of the 1950's, I think that is why most of these politicians are relieving those days, and one way to remember those days is the same haircut, maybe you miss those days too? Just as I know some people are stuck in their youth time warp and refuse to change with the times. Even those 80's hair bands, some still carry on like they were back then, just they have long Gray hair now. I think that is why some people hate the new Hipster look, these youth took something old, as in style, and repackaged it with an updated look

I am one of the rare ones, who has always kept up on the latest trends, republicans, for the most part, do not and never have been considered trendy, after all, they are conservative. If I wanted to live and be stuck in my past, I would still have long hair covering my ears, but today, that would look funny because of my receding hair line

I had one friend for 10 years, who was 40 at the time, grayed early, who now is 60, he always wore is hair plastered, side part republican style, his family is all republican and he didn't come out gay until he was 35. One day I convinced him to 'change it up' a bit. For his 50th b-day, he got a military cut known as high and tight. Left some scruff on his face, I dyed his hair back to his original color of brown, put him in a wife beater tank top, (he is a short guy with a good upper torso) green camouflage pants and aviator sun glasses. You know what? He was Hot!, that conservative, polo shirt wearing republican disappeared. I took several photos to compare the before and after. I loved it. But once a conservative, always will be, he never kept the new look, felt uncomfortable and went back to being a Newt Gingrich looking republican manikin. I tried icon_rolleyes.gif
