Bird does not care who eats it after death, match sticks and trees comparison does not make much sense karma wise.

It's a scientific metaphor. The tree and match comparison is suppose to SHOW you that you too have the power to affect karma. I got this off the Soul Center of Orange County's facebook post. If one tree produces all those matches, would you use that match to burn a million trees? It's to make you recognize the karma in others also and to not destroy it's path when it is good karma. And karma does take place even after death.

I don't understand the deeper teachings and traditions that define the idea of "karma", so I stick to the obvious, trivial interpretation. Throughout your life, whatever you surround yourself with is what you'll be surrounded by, and your thoughts and actions will always be dominated by the things you think and do.

Not much to it, but it helps to keep me on track.

Very recently I had a hundred dollars stolen from me. Three weeks later my Case Worker walks in and was closing out some account I didn't even know I had in my current transfer and handed me one hundred and sixty dollars. I SWEAR I didn't even know about this account they had started for me.

    Ravensong saidKarma isn't real.

    Agreed.
I don't believe in do good get good, do bad get bad.
There are plenty of good people who have bad things happen as there are bad people who get a lot of good things.

Rather I believe in the principle of reaping what you sow.
What you will get out of something is whatever you put in the most.
I believe this principle is universal and applies to everyone.
You can have bad people invest into wise decisions and get good things out of it, just as you have good people who make stupid decisions and reap bad things from it.
It doesn't matter if you're good, bad, or anywhere in the middle, you will reap what it is that you sow.

In saying that I don't think that therefore it is not necessary to be good to others. If you were going to interact with someone in any way you might as well be nice just because being nice is generally better than being a dick lol.

Karma is a made up concept to force bad people into behaving like good people. Truly good people have no need for such delusions. They live lives of compassion and empathy because it's the right thing to do.

I believe in karma in the sense that you reap what you sow. I think good and bad can often be subjective. I don't consider myself a good guy or a bad guy so I constantly strive to be fair. So far, the fairness I shown to others have been rewarded back to myself .

I don't know the exact quote but:

A housewife spends her life battling dirt which ultimately consumes her.

but what about the action reaction thing. If someone does good its only logic that good things will happen to him because sooner or later they will be reciprocated. Its not a magic rule, just common sense.

I do believe in Karma. People often interpret it incorrectly. It's not simply a matter of having good things fall from the sky if you are polite to others. It has less to do with action and more to do with intention. It's a bit hard to explain, but if you do some reading it makes more sense.

I've also enjoyed the inversion of the phrase "Karma's a bitch".

    It's not Karma that's the bitch...it's you. icon_lol.gif

Absolutely. The Universe always ensures that you receive exactly what you give, in no uncertain terms, either in this "life" or after. Anytime you operate outside of the law of love, in anything you say, do or even think, you will always and absolutely invite disorder into your countenance. It's simply the truth. If you do not believe it...it's still true. icon_biggrin.gif

Yes I do... Ive seen it in action. When assholes are giving my friends grief i just tell them to be the better person, that Karma will deal with them when the time is right.

I usually get a reply along the lines of: "I cant wait that long an Ass Kicking takes effect quicker than Karma

"The knife...that waits years without forgetting...then slips quietly between the bones. That's the knife...that cuts deepest." The knife you never saw coming

Believing something doesn't make something true any more than disbelieving makes something untrue.

The only provable karma is that created by human agency...you shit on my lawn, I fuck your wife sort of thing. Everything else is an observational artifact, explained by the law of large numbers.
