    hey RJers

i experience a repeated condition in which i feel a distinct bump / swelling in my underarm, after exercise or sleeping funny (on my arm). it feels like a lymph node; it doesn't break like a pimple and eventually the swelling goes away, but it has an accute pain if i extend my arm and doesn't seem to improve a ton with stretching / massage. sometimes it's one, sometimes as many as 3-4. maybe i'm using bad form with my exercise? what else might cause this? i've read about deodorants and used different kinds, making sure to shower after gym, but it still comes back..

    thanks!icon_redface.gif

I would say a cyst but if it goes away and comes back it's probably cancer.

I believe that can be a sign of infection on the involved extremity.

Glands in the armpit (axillary lymph nodes) may swell from an injury or infection to the arm or hand. A rare cause of axillary swelling may be breast cancer or lymphoma.

Your first two forum posts you're asking for medical advice. Do you not have insurance?

Doctors are around so we don't make bad self-diognoses or get misdiagnosed by armchair experts. What you think may be a pinched nerve in your neck can be a cervical herniation (which could also register as a pain down your arm not in your neck) - or nothing. And a swollen lymph node in your armpit could be lymphoma - or nothing.

I once thought a cancerous enlarged spleen that'd dropped from behind my ribcage into my abdomen was a hernia or kidneystones. Don't self-diagnosis! Don't rely on the advice of sports injury-prone jocks. Go to a doctor! If doctors can't diagnose you THEN make outside inquires.
