Where would you hang that? Not the kitchen, that's for sure. I like Saturn eating his son by Goya but that has the same problem...

Never was into skulls when I was young or the Iron Maiden beast. Not saying it is not art but is art I don't like. To me they might as well paint pictures of victims getting raped as well. I just don't like fixating on the things in life that are horrible. I could never hang that up on my wall as a child and feel at peace. I have a lot friends that did it though. I just ignored their walls. My best buddy of 25 years was VERY into collecting skulls. Didn't bother me much. In fact I bought him a skull candle for his bathroom one year for his birthday. Bitchin guy he is. Skulls don't bother me or death doesn't bother me as seeing violence take place in art. I believe it was Mohammed that said "War is an art". I disagree. The human body is an art, why would an artist destroy that?

If things were better off for you, and in whatever way, would the interest in gore stop? I mean it's sort of a momentary thing, right? It turns on and off?

I prefer naturalist and realist paintings, drawings, statues.

In architecture it's definitely minimalism. I hide everything I don't use every day, I have huge built-in drawers and just throw everything in these. I guess it's because I hate housework, I have only one shelf so I barely need to dust. There's one big vase with callas in it and an aquarium, but it's minimalist too, these two are the only colorful things in my home. Some people might call it cold and not homy at all but for me it's clean and functional, I find enough colors and life in the garden.. I just have to look out of my windows.

In photography I like black and white and HDR photos. Especially bw male nudes.. Too bad I can't hang any on the walls since I'm in the closet.

I watch horror movies, I don't need other gore things in my life. For me it's not art at all actually, it's just like reading comics. Art for me is fine decoration.

I love all art in all of its forms because it holds a mirror up to our society and makes us think about things. For example, I love the pictures in this posted in this thread because they make me think about the genitals of human beings and how much meaning we attach to the genitals in our culture. This is something society should think about because such thoughts lead to legal decisions about who can and can not love each other in our society. So yes, to alter Shakespeare's famous quote, "If art is the music of love, then play on!"

I suffered a hot weather cold to have posted much of anything recently and I'm apparently still recovering from horrible weather. Anyways, what I'm asking is that if the interest in gore ever subsides when something better comes along, whatever better is for you. Or is the interest in gore something that has always been there? For myself, I have to keep tabs of what happens to the failed state south of the border which includes seeing my share of gore now, even botched attempts at beheadings (argh, even with PRI in power now there is still a strong likelihood that Mexico's surge in violence will spill over to the United States rather soon, and we'll get to see the next filmed beheading happen right here in the United States, more gore for the rest of us, yay!, I'm being sarcastic).

Wait, you appreciate, gore as art, and not real life gore... I don't know what to say about that yet, but my bad for mentioning or implying something entirely different.

Oh I see, when it comes to gore, it's not a curiosity thing or an interest, but as "art appreciation". It's not so much that I made assumptions about you in particular, as I tend not to make assumptions (I would ask questions first really), but had assumed one key thing about why anyone would be interested in gore, such as it being a "curiosity thing" or something resorted to when taking the "edge" off, or hundreds of other things.

So with all the "art" posted so far, the one actually having her own menstrual blood on her face stood out the most to me. It was a statement of sorts and it communicated a lot of messages to me. Though I found it the most repulsive "art" in this thread. On the other hand, seeing the gore didn't register any message with me, and I wasn't taken back at all at seeing them, but I suppose I could appreciate the gore for the effort and skill the artists had in drawing them. Is this what you were aiming for when showing the "art of gore"?
