Adoption is truly admirable. Surrogacy is kind of lame.

    Love it!

I've contaminated the gene pool with one of my own naturally conceived vermin. I've done my part and feel no need to take responsibility for someone else's fuck up, but big KUDOS for those that do.

Well there are huge numbers of children without families, many more than most people would probably guess (around 90,000 just in the UK), but I feel too used to the idea that it is something for other people, and I would rather spend my time doing things like travelling, studying and so on.

This is probably the biggest reason why republicans and especially their right wing group hate, in particular, gay men, procreation that they mandate, is expensive, puts most people into debt for at least 21 years, sometimes longer and depends on how many children to raise.

I just look at it a different way, the republican religious mantra of the old, American dream (job, house-picked fence, wife, two children-college, two cars, dog and cat) is all about consumerism and debt. Gay men have had it correct for many years, that is, to stay as debt free as possible, this is why we have the most disposable income

In my opinion, the new American dream is to be young and debt free, maybe when older, wiser, wealthier and established then think of children, but they still are a life time commitment, todays job market (income) does not support such long term financial commitments anymore, thanks to corporate America

Yes. And have one or 2 naturally. I come from a big family so would ideally like 4 kids.

For the people blaming the children on their parents irresponsibilty; the children have no fault their parents were shit. If you "wish people to stop popping out babies" shouldnt it be logic that you would want to adopt instad of having your own? Also have in mind some children lost their parents because they died, in all these cases thats nones fault but fate. I just think blaming the kids for their parents mistakes or circumstances is unfair.

Both... which ever suits your lifestyle. I think its admirable that gay couples have kids period. Surrogate or adoption.

I'm in the middle about this. I had nieces and nephews, just seeing how my siblings struggled to bring up their kids. It kinda turned me off about having my own kid. However, I realize that there are a lot of unfortunate kids in the world. I'd probably adopt a kid once I'm more stable in the future. But I'm about 50/50 on it, still want to have my fun.

You quoted me out of context. Overall I think people should have limitations imposed on them to not so easily be able to have children. I wouldn't want my own but if I 'wanted' to have children I would (only) adopt and give that young human being the opportunity at a successful and productive life.

People should be temporarily sterilized by the government until they complete a battery of psychological tests, can demonstrate that they can take care of themselves first, make a certain minimum income, and complete 120 hrs in parenting classes. Each parent would have to complete the requirements in order to have the sterilization reversed.
