RealJock Site Issues

So I have been having trouble with the site in general since about midday.

So around midday my browser kept failing to load RealJock. No server not found, no Error 402 or Server not responding. It isn't my internet connection as any other site is loading quickly. I even tried all my devices

I was okay with it as i thought as first: Okay site maintenance or even better a site revamp improvement ( i know... a guy can dream!). I kept checking every few hours with no success

About two hours ago the site finally loads (slowly if i might add) and i happily put in my details. It takes me to the home screen, BUT I'm still not logged in.
I left it and attended to more important matters.

I luckily logged in just a while ago to start this forum and the site randomly bombed again before i could post it!

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any information concerning this?

PS I luckily just looked up to my mail before clicking post to my mail that's reading (Nan) so I'm glad I'll be copying this before losing it all over again.

Yes, I am pretty sure everyone is experiencing it. If you notice there hasn't been any posts for the day pretty much. Jeff's probably on top of it though.

EDIT: Oh look there he is. Hi Jeff.

I usually just posts a thread to just get it out there then edit the post to polish and spell check it. My Polishing draft didn't post and i got kicked out again!

I think by making it smooth he means, that he has no clue what just happened.

Thank you for the input at least

Site still seems a bit slow but it seems to be working.

On a related note RJ could use a whole new interface and look

definitely, and i think he knows that.

i recently switched from phpbb3 to xenforo for one of my sites and the feature set is muchhhhhhh better for the paid ($140) forum software. the thing actually saves drafts as you're typing, lets you 'like' posts, has a full moderation/warning system, full mobile support, on and on. RJ looks to me like a modified phpbb2, verrrry old. i know it has lots of customizations behind the scenes and that's the bugger. who's going to pay for a custom programmer to replicate those and import the old pictures, etc.? does the site make enough to justify that investment or is it just limping along on a shoestring budget, more of a hobby than a business? if there's no intere$t in bringing it current, we could be looking at this same thing for another 10 years..

Hi Guys - We had another problem with Go Daddy. It's been handled, but it may take hours for the DNS to fully propagate. - Thanks for your patience, Jeff

I honestly don't understand how people don't like the technology here or the design. It is very easy to manuever and the technology is fantastic I think. You are not hit with a bunch of ads like these other sites, the profile pictures are rather large enough to see, the block feature works wonders, the profiles are pretty damn flexible... It's a LONG ways from what it use to be ten years ago. I was a professional webmaster making eighty grand per year for six years. Forums like this have come a long ways.

I really think there should be a greater effort preventing multiple accounts but whatever the site is free.

Glad the site is back after the long day yesterday of not being able to connect. I figured it was down for maintenance. ( or my Apple updated software was goofy after the last update...) Glad to see RealJock back on the screen! Thanks!

The hole left in one's life by the disappearance of the site would not be as deep as a well nor as wide as a church door, but would be felt by some of us - even if we aren't here that much. We already miss a lot of long time members who have left. The site would be missed most by the trolls and all their sock puppets who now predominate.

And the ones that have too much time on their hands. Just sitting in their rooms procrastinating.

I have heard of terrible problems from Go Daddy as well from other people. You guys might want to consider moving to a different company. Their customer service is terrible. And businesses have been destroyed from their bad decisions.

There are a lot of good companies out there. I don't know why so many people use Go Daddy.

I use Pair Networks and have never had any problems. And I have used them since 1997. But there are tons of other good companies out there as well.

    http://www.pair.com

    http://www.pairnic.com

But again, there are many good companies out there.

Who should RJ use for hosting if not GoDaddy?

Some of us already use at least one other "backup site" to maintain our social connections. In those spaces, there are people who no longer visit RJ, as well as those like me who "keep a foot in both worlds".

Glad to see RJ is back up. I'll continue to seek some enjoyment from it while I can.

For those who have not already done so, feel free to contact me on Facebook if you'd like to request a "backup" connection with me.

If you think it could use a new look you should spend time helping create the new look or offer suggestions. They listen and have changed things based on user feedback
