Riverside Community College, CA and Orange Coast College, CA. Opened my world up at age 24. I ended up making 80K per year and grew a few multi million dollar companies by ten percent in my day. Didn't need a degree though although I don't suggest that route for everyone. I was a fighter and I walked out on some of the largest companies in the world because I would not take sitting down doing a highly trained position for peanuts or to have some boss who treated me like I was in the military. I climbed the ladder FAST and spent countless nights learning new technologies on my own. College I don't at all deprive of in America. If you have the ability to finish, do it. If you don't, ask yourself why and go for it. This is the most flexible country in the world. You can follow your heart and if you have a soul you can follow that too. We are the luckiest place in the world.

Why do people go to state university if it's not even recognized when you apply for a job?

I went to 2 different community colleges at first, then transfer to Cal/UCB. I have friends from Cal, UCLA, UC Riverside, UCI, the job market in LA metro + SF bay is pretty tough. Most employers tend to be picky nowadays. Just saying.

I got an outstanding education from a small state school in New York. No one outside of the state has heard of it.
The main reason was money. I was paying my own way and back then tuition and fees was 4400/year.
It hasn't held me back any.
