Technically speaking, if you were to add up all of the world suicides in a given year -- it would work out to be a suicide every ~40 seconds.
I did a walk on Long Beach for suicide awareness and prevention. We helped raise money for our local hot line. I gladly handed over $50 for my purple tee shirt -- I know too many people who lost their lives to suicide.
My question is for people who have tried to commit suicide and failed or decided not to -- what actually made you decide to live? Did you actually call a hotline; come to an epiphany; or did a friend help put things into perspective?
After Robin Williams death I lost an acquaintance because of suicide. He had a loving wife, seemingly successful children (who are now adults), and was well off financially -- his family called his house the museum. Yet the feelings, emotions, and expectations were too painful for him to manage -- so he unfortunately decided to take his life in a similar way Robbin Williams did, rest in peace.
P.S. I just realized today is my 1 year anniversary on RJ.
