    Have you? Would you?

They say opposites attract, but I'm not sure that's strictly true. Is it possible for two different tribes to connect and find chemistry?

    Types I've dated:

    Twinks
    - Usually too clingy and quick to fall in love
Older guys - Almost prefer these types. They're emotionally secure and know how to treat a guy
Jocks - For the most part we click (obviously). Some take the fitness thing too far and become obsessed. Boring!
Fems - Funny as hell with their bitchiness and humour. I could fall for one...
Geeks - Love them! Though not sure I'd be happy in a relationship with someone that would rather kiss their Nexus goodnight.
Clubbers/alternative types - Life and soul of the party. Not long term material though.

Stop classifying people. You will be unhappy.

It's not a good thing to classify gay guys. I just use it as a system to find compatibility really.

I've dated guys who fit all the different subtypes you mentioned.

Just a side note... I try to see what works based on personal chemistry with potential dates. If it doesn't work beyond occasional sex I usually don't keep in contact with the guy.

Based from your chart I see I may be in the twink category since I'm a romantic icon_redface.gif and I'm most compatible with "mature" men. haha icon_biggrin.gif

I don't like classifying my exes but I know what you mean.

I don't like twinks, they are little boys. Never had a twink BF.

Definitely not into fem guys, no offense, but I simply can't stand them for a long time, they are too much. So no fem ex, ever.

Older guys, yes! Not too old though. They know exactly what they want and one crazy dude is enough in a relationship. They have their own life and let me live mine. Had a couple and spent some grate time with them.

Jocks. They are cool except if gym was their whole life. I hate when someone spend more time looking in the mirror than at me.

"straight acting guys" are my favorite. Average fit dudes, not too much public affection, cuddle-bunnies at home, lots of fun. Easiest when both are in the closet.

As an older guy who knows plenty of older guys, allow me to dispute this one.

Age has nothing to do with being "secure".

There are many people who never outgrow selfishness.

My advice: Go for someone at least as smart as you are and then try to keep up. You'll love the life you have together.

I would say I've dated twink, fem, bear-ish, wannabe jock (think he wansted to impress me), and the party/scene guy. No one fits squarely into anything but I've learned when you deal with people on an individual basis you can be surprise how most of the traits we associate with each subtype is only superficial and there are good people understood the bitchiness, bro-ness, femininity, or whatever.

I've dated twinks, fems and jocks only. Gym bunnies don't count as jocks imo.

I like a little bit of everything. Lately I like hot nerds alot, lol icon_smile.gif. Tend to like guys in their 30s, late 20s. I dated twinks, fem, older guys and a couple jocks before. For some reason, I'm afraid of bears, maybe bc they can crush me in bed? Not sure lol.

I find it difficult as I'm usually into bears and stocky guys who for the most part are only into themselves. I'm smooth, pale, lean, boyish face, the polar opposite of a bear. But when I am dating one, it's quite a vision seeing us as a couple. There's a dichotomy to it that I find very erotic. icon_twisted.gif

You use the word "we" in only one of the "tribes" you claim you have experienced in your life thus far. This tells me that there really is only one tribe you want to be with and what is curious to me about you actually is why are you saying that you are interested in all of these other so called "tribes?" In our day and age it is safe to be whoever you are and say that in the open. Oh, wait a minute, we are talking about gay guys here, so I take that back. I understand why you cast a wide net actually here now. Well anyway, your post was one of the most enjoyable I have read tonight. You would certainly be excellent as a male escort, if you were to ever try that line of work. You have gift of subtely in your communication which most guys do not have. Good for you bro. And it is true that older guys appreciate such a talent and gift in younger guys. That means that they can take you out around their professional and business making people. Most young guys don't have the slightest appreciation for such things as this. But you seem too. Once again I say, good for you my young brother. If that's really who you are then there are good things coming in your future, it's inevitable.

I'd rather date a 97 year old obese girl. With a huge fortune, of course.

I could never do anything as degrading as escort work lol. If I'm to find a soul mate who I want to spend a lot of time with (possibly the rest of my life?), we have to have something there on all levels.

-looking for common interests is a good start.
-also consider what you have at the table look for someone who completes the household.

Finally someone speaking the truth. Once guys hit 25yr olds they have formed their habits and patterns and some never grow out of them

Wow. This "sub type" of yours actually degrades the human society as a whole. Are we falling back into the caste system of ancient India? Do we have the gurus or Brahmins as the highest and the lowest is the untouchables? Are you serious? Is this how u see human life? It is just sad..! And we are actually carrying on with this conversation meaning some of you actually agree with this guy's perspective of the human? Or, more specifically, the gay male's culture is just as defined as such simpletons? Holy cow! This is unreal....
