I've never been to a gay bar or club, and since I live close to NYC, I've been thinking of going to one soon. Any recommendations?

I haven't been there in a while, but I like Therapy in the theater district.

I like Gym but I still get lulz from the "playpen" full of guys smoking at the front door. Kinda defeats the purpose.

They used to have the sweetest bartender downstairs, straight/married hockey player. Forget his name now.

I pity you if your first gay bar experience is to be in NYC.

Arrange to meet a friend there, but get there 20 minutes early and see how many guys check you out.

Eagle is way overpriced and the guys there (in my opinion) are really strange lol. Boxers in either HK or Chelsea are pretty good. Good drinks, good guys, bartenders are really chill. Hell I might work there when I move icon_razz.gif Industry is also good but jam packed after 10 pm.

"Flaming Saddles" in midtown is fun, easy, really just a gay Coyote Ugly. regular sing-along opportunities, and up until a couple months ago you could even spot a fellow RJer on top of the bar icon_smile.gif (no, not me...)

Surprised you all are talking-up "Therapy" its the most boring club, gay or str8, I have even been too. For his first time ever, he needs to go to a club similar to the old Splash (now closed) for his first time. I have never been but I'd try The Industry, which is near Therapy and also "XL" should be good. Just walk down 8th or 9th Avenue in the 40's and 50's and you will pass lots of gays and just ask them. They are very nice and you will be fine. When the night is late, go to "The Ritz" on 46th or 47th for a nice after-crowed experience.

good luck. Let us know where you ended up and how it was.

G lounge - poorly designed but I like the guys and music there
Boxers (HK or Chelsea) - not really a club IMO but good times to be had
Station (Grant Park Hotel) - Gay on Thurs and actually is nice inside with a good DJ

Just be yourself. I've gotten plenty of attention just by being myself. I'm a quiet shy type of guy and some guys think that's cute.

Don't overthink think it. A gay bar or gay club isn't as sleazy as how the world makes it seem. At least the ones in Los Angeles. Not sure about New York.

You don't have to worry about fights as those mostly occur at straight clubs.

If there are straight girls, they won't bug you.

The drinks are a little stronger and cheaper.

    Lastly, have fun.
