Beginning Cutting

I have always been in a bulk period and have lost weight before but it was from being sick, not the healthy way. I have reached about 142 lbs and want to start cutting down since I have noticed that I have some love handles and belly fat from the bulking. I have been lowering my caloric intake and really cutting down on sodium, sugar, etc. I still workout normally and have added a few days of HIIT and some reg LIIS days as well. I am eating 5-6 meals a day.

Is there anything else I can do to maximize the effectiveness of cutting? I take multivitamins, whey protein powder and casein b4 bed. I honestly think I need to tone and just lose maybe 3 lbs to see a good result and retain as much of the muscle I have earned.

I started back on Sept 22. Might have lost a little but unsure. I weigh myself in the morning 2-3 week. Just not really seeing it in the mirror. I know it takes time and you can't control where the fat is reduced. I also am doing ab workouts here and there but know that doesn't really make you lose weight-just core strengthening.

You should have seen some progress by now, at least on the scales. I started at the beginning of October and I am down a belt notch already. Sounds obvious but have you changed your protein powder? Also I eat smaller quantities of nuts now, for example oat granola instead of nut. For me the disappointment has been more the loss of strength.

I just used up a protein powder and ordered some ON whey protein from bodybuilding.com, I was taking a protein powder that was 30g of protein a scoop. It might be the cause for the weight stagnation but I have been cutting it down. I think it might be used as a gainer even though it doesn't say that and it's not too much higher in calories, etc than an isolate. Now that it is done, maybe I will see a difference with the new protein powder or even no powder until the powder gets delivered

At the moment I am using mostly a casein powder which tastes truly awful but seems to be working well.

Cut down the river, not across the street.
