Sao Paulo is a major city that has grown way too fast for too long a period. Thirty years ago it wasn't even in the top 25 largest cities in the world. Now it is the seventh largest city on earth. It is still growing very rapidly, it is like some powerful urban magnet that is attracting people from all over South America in search of economic opportunity and upward mobility. The truth of the matter is that this city's infrastructure has not been upgraded enough to keep up with the rapid growth. Plus erratic changes in worldwide weather patterns has also contributed to the serious water shortage. The other truth about Sao Paulo is that it is a city of crushing urban poverty and violent crime and deeply entrenched corrupt politicians.
