I really like the users in this forum, people here seems to be understanding and have sensibility towards the next one.

Maybe some here share my frustrations...

If really muscular men are hard to find, here is even worse. Sometimes you can see a bodybuilder type of guy in the street, shopping, university. But people here terribly homophobic, so I would never try to approach directly.

I tried many fan sites, dating sites, apps…etc… I cannot even find one to chat a little. Moreover, just lurking in bodybuilding forum I can see how homophobic the tone cam be.

I don’t know if there are other Brazilians in this forum… but it don’t matter. Thinking about it, maybe is good to know that there is no other guys in similar isolation.

Sorry about the English… However, I need do put it out... and there is no other place.

Are you in Brazil or Michigan as your profile states?

I hope he really is in Brazil.

I can't imagine any thing worse than the horror of being stranded in Michigan...

Interesting, my neighbors right across the street are Brazilians and I can tell you they get the eye view of my comfort level with mowing shirtless, the care of my home, etc and some of my friends that drop by....meaning, I have no doubt they know they have a gay man across the street. They are very friendly.

The very nice guy I dated from Houston for a year is from Colombia and I heard all about perceptions in Brazil and other SA countries and I heard positive things. Sorry that it hasn't been your experience, but I would hope it isn't as bad as your experience thus far has shown... at any rate, welcome to RJ and hope that you feel at home here!

    Your frustration is typical.

You are targeting a very small fraction of the human population, out of that small fraction few are actually gay. out of that gay, bodybuilder small population, few are actually into 'average' or skinny guys.

The maths are, I'm afraid, against you in finding a gay, bodybuilder who is into average/skinny guys.

While the maths are against you, its not totally impossible. I wager that there are several guys out there who would desire you.

Yeah, but chances are as high as Steve Job marrying him.

I have known MANY people from Rio de Jeniero (sic) and they were always extremely open minded. I always had the impression that Brazil is quite advanced.

I'm sure it is the same as in other countries (except Muslim ones) - more tolerant in large cities and among the educated; less so in rural areas or with the under educated.

The Brazilian expats I have met in my area are very open-mined and accepting of homosexuals.

Actually not that high. I manged three relationships with 'muscly dudes' and one was a competing body-builder who did competitions on a regular basis, even one a few local ones. And I'm plain and skinny and not worth having around (see I do have strong self esteem icon_razz.gif)

Downside though, #1 went to prison for Murder. #2 ended up landing me in hospital for a minor stay with casts, sutures, concussion, #3 only broke my heart and my arm...

All three had similar issues (in retrospect) which tied in to that whole desire to be big, muscular, blah - see I'm not the only one with self esteem issuesicon_smile.gif

So yeah, OP stands a good chance at meeting a muscle guy who will want him. I'm just doubtful if that want is actually going to be healthy.

Please do not pass this information on to the OP, it might discourage him of hope and romance and other ideals that youth have.

Like Bowenarrow said, body builders can have issues - steroids can give one a not so great personality.

But the best way top attract a guy with a good body - in Brazil or Michigan - is to have one yourself. So, start working on it.

That was my point also. You can't keep waiting for some guy with good body to find you attractive if you don't have a good one yourself. It's nothing specific to Brazil, anywhere around the world, this holds. Instead of ranting, start working out. There is no other way. Wishing for something almost improbable is just useless.

Please somebody make this mandatory read before joining the site. It would clear a great deal of nonsense on the forums.
