It's been awhile since this one has got some play, but reruns can be fun to watch sometimes. This is what I can figure out so far:

    1. Someone is not " out " to friends, family, or work and have a genuine fear of being exposed. An understandable situation, but remember, once your private pics ( if you have any ) have been viewed they are now in the cloud and will be viewed by others later).
    2. Headless guy has a significant other (husband, boyfriend, wife, girlfriend) and doesn't want it known that he might be "on the prowl" for a little discreet something. Granted Realjock is a pretty tame site vs. Grindr or Scruff. Many guys are on here just for the conversation, possibility of meeting new friends, or just to check out the entertaining blogs, or get some low down on fitness issues. Other than the " adult photos section" this could be gay Match or EHarmony except with the forum for members to post.
    3. Headless guy has a great body but may feel facially challenged hence the bag over the head..well no head I mean.
    4. Headless guy is SOOOO drop dead gorgeous that exposing his beautiful facial features ( except private pics of course...see #1) would just give him to many emails at once (along with stalkers) and he is tired of having his hard drive crash repeatedly for that reason.
    5. Some might feel facial exposure on here auto links their entire persona to a world class, out of control Ho. What would their friends say if they knew about that? I think most of the gossip related to this would last about a nanosecond.
    6. Headless guy is from a country or culture that really might cut their head off or worse if they are found out. In that case, don't put yourself in danger. I get that. Stay safe.
    7. Understand some just want their privacy. More power to them, unless their privacy does not apply to their junk or bare ass only. Crude and tacky.

In most western cultures, would anyone who wants to be social in a gay environment show up with a bag on their head? Well you would definitely be a head turner in that case. I'm sure I'll catch &%$# for that quip.

Anyway...If anyone can fill me on on something I have wrong or something I have missed that would be great. I don't want to judge anyone on here. We are not in Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan. I know quite a few members prefer not to show their face on here..I am just curious as to the different reasons why that is since for A LOT of people a face is everything. Thanks guys!

#3 is legit. I'm not the best looking guy. I've gotten way more messages on here and other sites with a headless profile. No surprise here. We're all chasing unicorns, so to speak.

I've experimented with #4. Created a fake profile on a gay "dating" app. FLOODED with messages. See #3 above.

#1 for me. A work in progress though. I was out to a friend in September when she asked me directly. In the past, I would have denied it.

You forgot #7: Guy posts ordinary pic but is so unattractive that site admin crops off the head. (Full pic still comes up if you go to the actual profile.) This has happened to me a couple of times, including on this site.

Actually it happens if your original aspect ratio is too tall & thin and the auto-crop thingy gets hold of it.

I disagree with 2. I'm sure many hook ups have been initiated on this site.

    You forgot to add one.

The Woman who played at being a man and made a false account as a dude in order to trick gay guys into an online relationship, and then proceed to scare the crap out of the guy.

This happened to me not too long ago (year or so). She was so sick she got a voice modulator program which was rather high end to 'fake' having a masculine voice on the telephone.

It took my gal pal and her computer to figure out that it was one of those voice changing programs. Of course by the time I turned it over to her the shit had already hit the fan big time.

This woman spent 6 months carefully lying and keeping notes about our conversations AND every post I made at the gay site where he and I met. oh excuse me SHE.

Mind I know that this woman is doing this to others in other places.

This is the type of person who stalks men's only adult survivors of child abuse in order to play out her sick twisted little games with unsuspecting men. She also targets places where survivors of sexual abuse go.

All of that was uncovered during the fall out of what that woman did to me.

So please add 'Stark Raving insane Catfish' to the list of 'Good reasons why I don't want my face to be seen by anyone who I don't know'.

pazzy saidseriously, why do people complain about someone wanting to be ANONYMOUS on a web forum? this is REALLY annoying. since when did YOU or anybody else become entitled to be up in another person's business or reveal your business to someone else. you have the right to hide your face. personally, i think that the admin should try to separate the social networking aspect of this site from the web forum since we have some members in here that are confused or never been on a web forum before. you can tell by how some people interact in here. they take everything too seriously or try to make this shit into facebook or whatever the fuck. hell, even with pictures and locations, people still lie, breh so you really can't trust ANYBODY on the web.

sadly, i don't know where this idea came from where people had to post their pictures, give their actual locations to the towns and states they live in and all this bullwash. this is a web forum. this AIN'T facebook, myspace. unfortunately, folks nowadays have it twisted where they think that every spot on the internet is like facebook where they have to treat it like such. to me, the whole "headless pic", "torso" bullshit that people use against someone on a web forum is pure manipulation. it's already risky business to even post a picture on here and a location especially with these crazy fucks out here that will stalk you or try to look your shit up or even try to go about trying to get involved in your life or invade your privacy. i'll be DAMNED if one of you fuckers pop up on me in the street without a warning in advance, trying to get at me over some bullshit on real jock. sadly, there's a few members in here that have nothing better to do or try to live vicariously on this motherfucker not realizing that offline and online are TWO different zones. some of you NEED to know the difference.

You deserve an award for that great post !

Sometimes, it's a fake profile. Whatever the reason is, I just ignore them.

How about in case you post something embarrassing. If you post your face, you're connected to everything you post.

But why should someone's face matter in a web forum? You just want their thoughts and opinions, not their pictures. I find it kinda creepy that a lot of dudes from this site are obsessed with others' pictures and sometimes they even do a Google reverse image search and try to dox people. Why? This is a web forum, not a closed facebook group.

Meh! If they don't want to show their face, they don't have to. I don't care. Not like I'm gonna meet them in person. Let them be!

And then there are the military guys who post nude pics here and other places where they are fully recognizable. Don't understand that.

You are sadly mistaken if you think the Internet is a safe place to Post info of any kind about yourself.

    I'm a torso!

When I was at school one of the teachers put his pictures on an Internet dating site. He put a shirtless (great abs) picture up and in his description said he was passionate. Which was all perfectly innocent.

It was found and obviously printed and placed on every wall in the school with the caption "I'm passionate". I may have taken one home (great abs).

He quit, as I imagine I probably would if I were in his position.

You have no idea what will happen when you post a picture of yourself online. Where it will end up or what some vindictive whack job will do with it.

Since it is a fitness site they could just be concerned with that or like it has been said, they may be afraid of someone using the pic against them? Maybe they just want to show their best features which is their body?

I know. It's weird right? I'd never seen that one before either. I guess it's a statuesque salute to abundance. Only the head's gone. And the head's gone. It's a double beheader.
