Starting over... need advice...

    I need a little advice...

    I'm 45, and though I used to be in similar physical shape to some of the guys on here, I've put on a good bit of weight. I really need to get back in shape, not just to look better, but to become a healthier person. I know its going to take work, and I'm committed to doing it... but I need to know where to start. Here's the situation...

    At present, because of finances/time constraints, the only equipment I have available to me is a Soloflex I've had for a few years, a yoga mat and some yoga tapes. I know the Soloflex will only get me so far, and that's fine. By the time it gets me where it'll take me, I'll be prepared to sell it and buy a membership in a gym.

    Current stats: 237 pounds, 5'7", approximate body fat (taken with a Tanita scale, averaged over a week) 37%. I know I've been losing muscle for a while due to the aging process. In June of 2007, I had a mini-stroke which left no lasting debilities or effects, except that I'm taking blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds and a baby aspirin once a day.

    Can anyone suggest a sensible workout? I've got the nutrition program handled, but I need a good workout to start me off in the right direction. I don't know if I should go for strength training, bodybuilding or what...

    For now a soloflex is perfectly fine
    you're going to have to get your body used to and hooked on working out so a full bodied work out on there is great
    what I would suggest is to look at the full body work outs on this site and that soloflex suggests
    equally important is to follow a sensible lo-calorie but hi protein diet... again take a look to see what's here on the site
    ...and get out there...walk - run if you can
    get a bike
    just keep it fun...don't make the mistake of over doing it and making it seem like a chore that you have to do
    and you'll see you'll get back in shape in no time
