If a gay man isn't shirtless/naked, what do you assume about his body?

This is something I've wondered for a long time.

If a guy has clothes on in all of his pictures, do you assume that he's in shape/hiding something.

I've always found pics shirtless in the bathroom to be a little well.....icon_neutral.gif
But it seems like without one, people just assume the worst. I've had people tell me in person "wow your pretty fit" or something to that effect. And when I ask why they are so surprised, they always mention that I have clothes on in my photos.

Do you have to be shirtless/naked for people to believe you're in shape?

Guys that don't have any shirtless pics are obviously fat or flabby. And if they don't have any dick pics in their adult section you can be sure they have a little dick.

I don't think anything, except they don't have any shirtless pics....

Seriously, I have no opinion one way or another. Some guys don't put shirtless pics on for a number of reasons.

Same here. Unless his overall shape is obviously overweight or thin.

RJ started out as, as still ultimately is, a Men!s fitness site.

The pics were originally to show results a progress.

As the site morphed into more of a social site the pics became a device of flirtation as well.

Considering this particular venue, a few decent body shots may be in order. But they are not required.

There is also a vast difference between wearing a well fitted tshirt and a giant Hawaiian print moo-moo.

Generally, what a Guy writes in His profile has more impact on Me that any pec/Ab/package pic anyway...

that's really sad when you think about it. really don't see what the point of turning it into a social site anyway when people are going to socialize, hookup and whatever even if the site isn't steered towards that direction or not.

    It's not sad at all!

Many lasting friendships have developed from here.

No different than going to a gym and becoming friendly with the people thee.

And it's only the ALL THINGS GAY section that has a large social element.

If it is just fitness, or routines/ regimens, techniques nutrition etc., there are sections just for that where the discussions are mostly fact based without much interpersonal connecting.

If the social element is disturbing to anyone, then why hang out in the social forums???

Modesty is the first thing that pops to my mind, and then followed by my assumption of what they are looking for.

Guys with shirts tend to be looking for relationships, friendship, companionship. Guys who are shirtless tend to be looking for sexual encounters with little to no interest in these other things.

And here I get this is or was a fitness site, thus having some shirtless shirts is about showing of gains/losses.

As for 'in shape' I have a very broad range of what fitness is. Unless they are gaunt or morbidly obese I don't think they are unfit.

Both of which can't be covered up with a shirt.

My go-to assumption is that if a gay guy has a really terrific gym-built body (i.e. abs but not skinny, not just "pretty fit" or "in-shape") he didn't put all that work in to cover it up on a gay website, and that anyone wearing a shirt IS hiding something. (Kinda like most of us will assume that if the photo of a guy is TOO hot he's probably fake.) There are exceptions of course, but likely few.

LOL, says a sissy faggot who hides her hideous chicken legs.

For someone who tries to pretend to be ultra Masc, you seem to know an awful lot about sissy faggot culture.. In fact it is all you ever talk about.

You even have comprised a list of " The Rules of Faggotry.". I believe your up into the 70's now, correct?

Most Men, Gay, Straight or otherwise wouldn't even think to put so much energy into assembling their sexual fantasies into a list...

I don't hide anything btw - I have dozens of pics. I would say you are too much of a pussy to show anything, but I guess you are just too busy with your dead lifts with your buds and bros.

And We all believe you. Really We do. No one here thinks your are a fat, acne ridden, pear-shaped, lisping circus geek with a lazy eye and a perpetually running nose who gets laughed at from the minute you walk out the door.

Oh, and if I'm your version of "hideous'" not only can I VERY easily live with that...but it's a safe bet you won't have very many Men - Gay, Straight, Bi, Femme, Masc or anything in between , standing in your corner.

    ' Nuff said pussy boy?

Transference was identified by Sigmund Freud when he noticed that his patients often seemed to fall in love with him - including the men. Fortunately, he realized that this was caused by something other than his magnetic personality...
    (snip)
We also transfer non-familial patterns onto other people. In fact we invariably treat others not as they are but as we think they are, and often as we think they should be. Thus we form stereotypes, and transfer these patterns onto others.

I have several reasons for not having a shirtless pics. Even though there are many guys with the same or worse shape then mine posting shirtless pics. I have a pic with a t-shirt tucked in tightly but that is about it.

I assume that they're not comfortable with the anonymity of the internet, and would rather only show off their fleshy self in person, and that their job/family/public life doesn't really let them show off what they have.

This has to be one of the most inane replies in a thread on this site that I've ever read. You honestly don't believe that, do you?

I believe it's becuase they have a massive tattoo of a unicorn on thier chest. It's the only logical reason.

I would rather see somebody in clothes with a face shot than have all the pictures be disembodied chests, no matter how magnificent. Of course I'm accustomed to all the chest shots, but sometimes when I step back and look at them I start to chuckle and think of chests walking down the street or hanging around the beach.

a really good looking body likely didnt happen by it self and he came from some place before that too. If he is in good shape its something really to be proud of. I think that pride can be properly handled by him and the OP.
